After getting satisfied with the attention she gets from the people in this building, Adrianna sits on the sofa and slowly enjoys the taste of wine in her mouth. The wine is leaving a hint of sweetness on her tongue. Smiling, she looks at Garret who is now watching her every movement.
"What?" Adrianna innocently asked.
"Why did you bring a glass of wine with you?"
"Oh, this? It's a freebie. I guess."
"...What?"
"I mean, no one tried to stop me so I guess they are giving this to me for free."
"Adrianna." Garret softly calls her name. "Tell me the whole details."
Although Garret knows Adrianna for years now, he still cannot understand what she is saying right now. Adrianna is missing a lot of important points in her story too. He just want to know why Adrianna brought a wine glass with her this time. Knowing her, Garret is very sure there is a story behind that glass.
And just like what he's expecting, the wine glass indeed has an incredible story behind it. Adrianna told him all the things that happened to her before she gets into his office. When Adrianna finished her story, Garret can only give her a helpless look. As a person who is always on her side, Garret knows that Adrianna can sometimes put her mind somewhere and forget the things that are already in front of her.
"See? It's not my fault why I brought this glass with me." Adrianna defended herself. "I will just consider this as a freebie since I enjoyed their food earlier."
"Alright. I'll believe whatever you say." Garret said before standing up from his chair.
He approaches Adrianna and gets the wine glass from her hand. Garret swirls the wine for a moment before smelling its sweet aroma. And without a word, he also takes a sip of it glass and tastes the wine. Garret put his lips on the same last spot where Adrianna put her lips on the glass rim.
It is not hard to find since there is a thin lipstick stain on the glass. Adrianna pretends that she didn't see that and relaxed her body on the sofa. Garret finished all the wine in her glass before he returns it to Adrianna.
"How was it?" Adrianna asked.
"Lush, sweet..." Garret slowly replied in a low voice. His gaze is lingering on Adrianna's soft-looking lips. "...and velvety."
When Garret gently puts a hand on her cheek, Adrianna quickly leans her cheek on his palm. She did not forget to hold the back of his hand and slowly blink her eyes while smiling sweetly at him. When Garret is not moving his hand, Adrianna takes the initiative to rub her cheek on his palm while throwing a few glances at his face. Soon, her lips gently touch his palm like a feather making his body flinch a little.
Here he goes again. Trying to lure her into this unspeakable game that only the two of them know. Unfortunately, Garret is always the one who loses this game. And this time, it will be Adrianna's victory once again.
"Garret?" Adrianna calls his name in a whisper. "Are you alright? Your cheeks are slowly turning red."
Adrianna runs her gaze on Garret's handsome face. Then her gaze stays a little on his lips before pulling it down on his neck. Her eyes flicker when she sees him swallowing and his adam's apple bobbing in his throat. Soon, a seductive smirk appears on her lips making it hard for Garret to look away from her.
"...I'm fine."
"Hmm."
After blinking her eyes, Adrianna takes the initiative to remove Garret's hand on her cheek before she rolls her neck. When she looks at Garret again, the seducing look on her face has vanished in an instant. She is now back to her normal cheery self.
"I know Jake is hiding a few wine bottles in his office. I will just ask him to give me some and refill my glass." Adrianna said as she stands up from her seat.
"I can just call him and ask to bring the wine here to my office." Garret offered.
"Honey, stop tormenting your overworked secretary." Adrianna said in a sweet voice. "Wait for me, okay?"
Before Garret can recover from his surprise, Adrianna has already left his office. Garret takes a few deep breaths before opening the first button of his shirt. Then he put a hand on his face and groans in frustration. He's the one who started it but Adrianna finished it with ease.
Even before Garret can start, Adrianna already knows what to do next. It really frustrates him. The seducer is always the one who becomes seduced instead. Adrianna never fails to turn the tables on him all the time.
Damn. Garret really falls for her so deep that he no longer wants to get out of it. Instead, he just wants to indulge himself in her presence all the time. Isn't that one of the reasons why Garret agreed to become her friend again in the first place?
When Garret hears the door open, he turns around thinking it is Adrianna who enters his office. The smile Garret readies on his face has disappeared in an instant when he sees another woman in front of him. The woman smiles sweetly at Garret and waves her hand to greet him.
"Who are you?" Garret asked with his eyebrows furrowed. "How did you get in here?"
The woman gasped as if she cannot believe Garret cannot recognize her.
"It's me, Shayne!" The woman said in a high-pitched voice. "Have you forgotten me already?"
Garret did not say anything. But after she introduced herself, he finally remembers who is this impudent woman. He did not try to hide his sneer at her but Shayne ignores it. Instead, she smiles happily at him.
"I'm here to give you a surprise visit! I'm back, Garret! I miss you!"
This woman, Shayne Cruz, is the one Garret's grandfather arranged as his marriage partner. Shayne's family has a close friendship with his family. But Garret doesn't like Shayne at all as they grew up. She's a spoiled brat, a crybaby, and an annoying existence in his life. It is a good thing that her father sent Shayne to another country for her studies. He really thought this woman will no longer return to their country and she is going to stay abroad for good.
"Garret, I really miss you so much! Here, let me give you a hug!"
Before Garret can move, Shayne suddenly jumps on him and tightly wrap her arms around his neck. He tries to push the annoying woman off him but she clings to his neck as if she's a monkey in the zoo.
"Garret, Jake said that you will—Oh."
When Adrianna returns to his office, she witnessed the scene where a woman is desperately hugging Garret on his neck. Interested in what will happen next, Adrianna leans her shoulder on the doorframe while her hand is gently swirling the wine in her glass. There is even a smile on her lips.
