It was getting dark, and before nightfall, Gao Guang and the other six had a hearty dinner.

They hadn't eaten much at noon, so everyone had a few compressed biscuits and the like, but knowing that the reinforcements couldn't make it, they had to eat a bit more lavishly.

So dinner was MREs, the self-heating single-soldier rations.

The taste was alright; the portion wasn't big, but the calories were definitely enough. Gao Guang was satisfied with one, but Mike needed at least two.

"How's Number 16?"

"Not bad, how about Number 15?"

"Also not bad, then I'll take another Number 16."

There were two large cardboard boxes in the dormitory, filled with self-heating rations. Mike took another one and said with joy, "Actually, these aren't bad. After getting used to the cafeteria food, I think these are pretty tasty."

John said weakly, "I sincerely hope you can always maintain that view. I really hope you can always keep a fondness for self-heating rations, God bless."
