章節 31: Coffee Shop Meeting
A tall man stepped into the shop and when she saw who it was, her mouth fell open in shock.
"Si Mu?" She exclaimed, and Qin Beihou looked over at the man who walked in as well when he saw her expression.
"You know that man?" He asked, his voice deepening.
She did not have to answer as Si Mu noticed her right after entering the coffee shop and walked straight over to them, his expression cold when his eyes landed on Qin Beihou.
Xu Anyi stood up when he walked over, surprise written on her face, "Si Mu, what are you doing here?"
She did not remember telling him which coffee shop she was going to when she left.
His eyes moved from Qin Beihou over to her, and he placed his hands into his pant pockets, "I have a meeting here."
He then added in a stiff tone, "What a coincidence."
Xu Anyi's lips twitched slightly as she scratched the back of her head, wondering who in their right mind would have a meeting with Si Mu in a coffee shop.
However, she decided not to expose him. She quickly realized that Si Mu's gaze moved over to Qin Beihou, and for some reason, it did not seem very friendly. . . Well, he always looked like that.
"Oh, this is Qin Beihou, my friend," she introduced, and Qin Beihou stood up as well so he could look at Si Mu at eye level, "This is Si Mu, my. . ."
Xu Anyi paused for a second and her eyes moved over to Qin Beihou and then to Si Mu. She thought about it for a while, and finally, she finished, "friend."
She wasn't sure if Si Mu wanted their relationship to be known to others yet, and she was also scared that the news would be too much of a surprise for Qin Beihou to handle.
Si Mu raised an eyebrow as a hint of surprise quickly flashed past his eyes, and he slowly held his hand out. Qin Beihou took the hand and they shook it for a bit too long, an unusual hint of red appearing on both of their hands before Qin Beihou let go first.
Si Mu did not break eye contact with Qin Beihou as he spoke to Xu Anyi, "I will get going then."
Then, he turned around and walked away, over to the other corner of the room, where he sat down at an empty coffee table.
Xu Anyi looked around, not seeing anyone else, and she was even more certain that Si Mu was lying, as who could possibly arrange a meeting with him and make him wait? That would be searching for death.
She cleared her throat and sat back down, looking at Qin Beihou awkwardly.
"Si Mu. . ." Qin Beihou repeated softly, deep in thought. Of course he recognized that name, and he also recognized the man's face.
Wasn't he the famous young master of the Si family, the current President of the Si Corporation? How did Xu Anyi get to know him?
Even if she was a part of the upper class in the past, few people even in the upper class circle had relations with the Si family. Furthermore, Si Mu was not just any member of the Si family, he was the Crown Prince, and was now probably one of the most important figures in the entire country. . .
And their relationship seemed quite close.
"Do you know him?" Xu Anyi asked when she saw Qin Beihou's unusual expression.
Qin Beihou thought about it for a moment and then shook his head. He only recognized Si Mu because he was a prominent figure in the entertainment industry and had seen him once before at an evening party a long time ago.
If it weren't for that one party where Si Mu showed up for only a few short minutes, he would not recognize Si Mu either.
Si Mu rarely showed his face in the media, so everyone knew of him, but few people recognized him as his identity was kept quite secretive. Only the most powerful and famous people in the country who had an opportunity to meet him would know about him.
Xu Anyi nodded and did not say anything further as she took a sip of her coffee, her eyes glancing over at Si Mu to find that he was looking right back at them.
It was obvious that he wasn't waiting for a meeting. . .
At that moment, a waitress walked over with a menu and handed it to Si Mu, "Sir, can I get you anything?"
Si Mu did not even glance at the waitress and merely said, "Same as that woman over there."
The waitress looked over at Xu Anyi, who looked back at them confusedly, and the waitress nodded, walking away.
A few minutes later, she came back with a cup of coffee and set it down onto the table. Si Mu did not even look at it and continued to keep his focus on the table on the other side of the room.
The waitress set the coffee down and did not leave, continuing to stand there. However, when Si Mu did not pay any attention to her after almost a minute, she cleared her throat awkwardly.
Si Mu finally looked up at her, frowning, "Do you need anything?"
In other words, "What are you still doing here? Can you get out of my sight?"
However, the waitress did not understand as she smiled sweetly, pushing her long curly hair to the back of her ear, "Sir, I was wondering if I can get your phone number?"
She smiled sweetly, tilting her head to the side.
However, Si Mu did not even bother to spare her another look as he replied coldly, "I don't have a phone."
". . ." The waitress's expression stiffened as her gaze moved over to the large phone right next to the cup of coffee, and her face immediately turned red from anger and embarrassment.
"Hmph!" She clenched her teeth together as she turned around to leave.
"Wait!" She suddenly heard him call. Her eyes lit up with excitement as she turned back around, wondering if he had changed her mind.
"Tie your hair up. It is basic etiquette to keep your hair up working in a coffee shop," Si Mu said simply before waving his hand up, signaling for her to leave now.
The waitress's face was filled with shock, anger, disbelief, embarrassment, and confusion all at once as she clenched her teeth together tightly and whipped her head around, practically running away.
The coffee shop was really quiet and Xu Anyi heard the entire conversation that went on, and she pressed her lips together, trying to suppress a laugh although she couldn't help but feel slightly bad for the waitress.
From the side, Qin Beihou looked at her and saw that her attention was completely on the man at the other side of the room now.
He glanced over at the man and took a deep breath, setting his coffee cup back down on the table.
"Anyi. . ." She called as he lifted his arm up and looked at his watch, "I have some work to get to, so I'm going to leave. Contact me if you need anything."
Xu Anyi looked his way and nodded.
Qin Beihou put on his mask and sunglasses, so she could not see his expression as he said, "I am always here for you."
Xu Anyi laughed as she stood up from the chair, "It seems like the little boy who got bullied in the streets is gone."
Even with the mask on, Xu Anyi knew that he frowned as he grabbed his phone and walked away, looking in Si Mu's direction as he left.
She watched as he walked out of the coffee shop and disappeared.
