Raymond couldn't stay calm, he paced the sitting room and kept checking the time. After checking the time from time to time, he called the boss back.
"When were you asked to call back?" Picking up after five rings.
He breathed heavily, "In an hour."
"Good. Why..."
Interrupting him, "Please, let her go. I'll do anything you ask of me."
"You've said that before lover boy." He laughed, "Call me back in an hour from now." He ended the call before Raymond could say anything else.
"What did he say?" Mary asked from behind.
"He said I should call back in an hour."
Mary smiled briefly, "It's remaining 15 minutes."
"We are counting to another hour from now." Mary sat down on the couch, sobbing.
Yvonne woke up to the opening of the door to where she was held captive. "Who's there?" She asked, trying to see through the blindfold.
"Someone." A male voice said, removing her blindfold.
She blinked her eyes rapidly and closed her eyes briefly, to clear her eyesight, "Who... Please, where am I? What am I doing here?"
"You are far away from home because you're being held captive or should I say kidnapped..."
She tried to sound confident, "Why?"
"Many reasons dear. You're like a thorn or obstacle in a couple's path ."
"Obstacle... Thorn... What do you mean by that?"
"Forget about it." He smiled.
She watched him for some time, "Who are you?"
He removed his hat and gloves, "Guess..." Turning the back of his palm to show her a tattoo. "No idea?"
She stared at the tattoo, trying to remember where she had seen the tattoo before, "This tattoo... Where had I seen it?" She murmured.
"You haven't been shown the video? Your mom hasn't told you I guess." He turned to leave and raised his hand to wear his hat "I'll leave you to think and would be back for you, baby girl."
Yvonne gasped, looking at him in realization, "You killed my dad."
"You have seen the video so I guess you know me?" Winking at her.
"The Boss." She said with tears in her eyes, threatening to drop. "What did my dad ever do to you?"
"He doesn't know when to mind his business and you inherited it from him."
"How did you know there was a video of his murder?"
He looked at her, smiling, "Hello, baby girl. I knew there was a CCTV camera from the onset so I deleted the irrelevant parts and left the other part for you."
She looked at him, confused, "You left it for me?"
He nodded, "The reckless you would come to look for me to fight me but your mom, your boyfriend, and his parents had to keep it from you till now."
"Mond... Mond knew?" Yvonne asked but he couldn't answer as someone entered.
"Who's there?" The Boss asked coldly.
The person's heels could be heard clacking loudly, "Dad! Dad!!" She called out.
Yvonne looked at the person shocked as she got to where she was, "Su... Susan?"
"How many times would I tell you not to call me that? Huh?" He shouted, holding Susan's arm in a tight grip.
"I'm sorry, Boss." Susan bowed her head.
"Let this be the first and the last time..." He said coldly. "You will ever call me that, is that understood?" She nodded, He pushed her away and left.
Yvonne couldn't believe what she saw, struggling to untie herself, "Susan, are you okay?"
In a flash, Susan got up from the floor, ran to Yvonne, and hit her hard, "Don't you dare feel sorry for me." Yvonne looked at her shocked. "It's all your fault, Yvonne." She yelled.
"Wh... What's my fault?"
"Everything. If you don't ruin things for me every time, things would have been better between my dad and me." Susan looked at her with hatred. "I hate you so much."
"What went wrong? We were okay since childhood so what happened now?"
"We were never okay from childhood till now, even a fool would have noticed that."
"You've never behaved as you hated me..." She said in disbelief.
Susan laughed at the look on her face, "You don't believe me?" She bent to her level. "Let's revive some memories of high school." She told Yvonne all she had done throughout their time.
Yvonne struggled harder with the ropes wrapped around her, "I shouldn't have taken you as my friend nor do you deserve to have more." She sobbed harder.
"You're hurting my feelings." She faked a sad face.
"You knew your dad killed mine, right?" Seeing the smirk on her face, confirmed her suspicion. "You knew." She shouted.
"I did. He's my dad so why wouldn't I support him?" She shrugged, smiling widely.
Yvonne laughed, "You think he would suddenly turn to a caring father or should I say he would accept you as his daughter if you support him?" She smirked on seeing the smile fall from Susan's face, knowing she had stroked a nerve.
"It's none of your business." She glared at her.
"I feel so sorry for you. Stop dreaming and wake up to the reality, he would never accept you as his daughter."
Susan roared, "Shut the hell up." Hitting her hard on the cheek.
"Aww... How does it feel to be at the receiving end, huh?." Yvonne smiled with blood dripping from her mouth. "It's the truth. He doesn't want you to call him Dad because you are a disgrace to him."
A tear, another tear then tears streamed down Susan's face, Yvonne waited for the regret to come but nothing instead it felt like she had defeated a foe of hers. "Oh... Are you crying? Wow!!! The Almighty Susan is crying."
"How dare you?" Susan yelled. "You have the love of a father so why can't you let me too."
"Love of which father? You and your dad killed the father that's supposed to love me. Are you even listening to yourself?" She laughed. "How didn't I let you?"
"The marriage between I and Raymond was the key to gaining my Dad's love but you ruined it. If you had stayed away till after the wedding, it would have been for the best." She said to Yvonne.
"How would the marriage earn you your father's love?"
"Marrying Raymond would raise him to another level."
"Another level as in?" Yvonne asked, looking confused.
Susan got a stool to sit on, "The Russells are the top richest and every of their property would be given to Raymond as soon as he gets married. So if I get married to him and become his widow, who would the property be given to?"
Yvonne shook her head negatively, "Are you this desperate to go to that extent?"
"I'm that desperate that I would go to any extent for his love."
Yvonne sighed, "Can't you see he is using you to get what he wants. He does not love you."
"He does but does not how to show it." She stopped Yvonne from talking. "Do you know how it feels for you to look into your father's eyes, wanting to see it shine with unconditional love but all you see is hatred?" A tear rolled down her face. "It..." She cleaned her tears as she heard someone entering.
"Go and prepare for your wedding." The boss said from behind.
"What wedding?" Susan and Yvonne asked at the same time.
He glared at Susan, "Are you a fool or what? What's her abduction all about from the onset."
Susan looked down at her feet, "I'm sorry, Da... Boss." She rushed out.
"What wedding is she preparing for?"
The boss sat facing her, "Your boyfriend said he would do anything even if it's to marry Susan, as long as you are released."
"He would never agree to marry her," Yvonne said confidently.
He looked away, sighing, "I know and thought about it so I came up with an idea." He winked.
"What idea?" Yvonne asked fearfully.
Everyone was sitting in silence, thinking of what to do. Mercy, Yvonne's stepdad, her friends; Ria and Samuel, and Justin were sitting too, thinking.
"You have to go through with the wedding," Justin spoke up.
"What the hell are you saying, huh? He should get married to Susan..." Mercy said.
"What other solution is there to the problem at hand? The boss is dangerous as you have explained and he could do anything to Yvonne." Samuel said calmly.
"Raymond say something." His mom said, making everyone look at him.
A beep was heard from Raymond's phone, he tapped to check, it was a picture of Yvonne. The boss said he would roughen her up to make him agree to the wedding and he did.
He raised his head, looking at a distance, "I'm not going down without a fight."
