Inside a modern double-bedroom apartment, Kelly was carefully removing her expensive silk robe. It was 5 in the morning, and she was ready to wash away her sleep with a nice, warm bath. 

She missed the hot springs on Psionis. Back home, she always used to bathe with her fellow female students. Though Technoria offered a more comfortable lifestyle, it felt mechanical and lifeless.

Locking the bathroom door, Kelly dropped her robe in a Laundro Ease machine. It was the latest appliance in washing and fabric care. Occupying the space of a mini-fridge, it was a compact, portable, multi-purpose cleaning gadget.

Once Kelly pressed the 'start' button, the machine selected the washing mode, water level, and detergent type on its own and began washing her robe.
