Kevin stood there, shell-shocked. For the life of him, he couldn't figure out why these people were treating him like an enemy. He had done them all a great service by dealing with the Raiders, but they didn't seem too pleased with his actions.
"Come quietly, Kevin. You don't want to cause more trouble than you already have," Shane said, holding a steel handcuff before him.
"I haven't done anything wrong. I cleared the Raider camp to protect the people!" Kevin retorted, raising his voice.
Shane's expression remained unchanged. His cold eyes were focused on Kevin's, and his face blank and stony. Everyone else behind him looked at Kevin with a note of disgust mingled with fear. It was as if they were staring at a monster.
"Why are you doing this, Shane?" Kevin asked. "It's about our quarrel outside the lab, isn't it?"
Every action has conseuqences. This isn't a game where the main character can kill everyone without remorse and level up to become stronger. The battle is as much on the outside, as it is inside the mind.
If you like psychologically complex protagonists, twisted plots, and a gritty and dark backdrop, this is the story for you.
