The closer we drew to the living and dead souls inside the town ahead, we steered off the tarmac and planned to detour to the much quieter, safer wilderness.

Hearing the rushing sound of a river, I felt more confident we were on the right path. Around us, I watched the scattered blinking green of the virus, just like fireflies weaving in the flora. 

Too infatuated in its beauty, I found myself longing for a peaceful life away from these cursed souls in the wilderness.

This longing placed me in a dangerous state of complacency. A strong signature of the virus was drawing near suddenly. This gift System gave me was not omniscient,, I had again let down my guard. 

"System hide my presence," I instructed, whilst giving Nyx a gesture to disappear. I jumped with a spring in my step up a sturdy tall green tree. 

A short while later, the slither of a snake's tongue rang out in the eerie silence. That had been close.
