章節 140: Disappointed.

"You're going to give your child away?" Alex calmly and dumbfoundedly asked. He had clearly heard her, but he didn't want to believe she had just said that. And even if she did, he wanted to assume she had only said that because of the situation of things but had not meant it. 

Vanessa peered at Alex, she didn't know what it was, but something about the way he was looking at her told her, he wanted to hear something different. 

She lowered her eyes to the plate of fruits in front of her and softly replied. "Yes."

Alex felt a cold bucket of water being splashed on him. His stoic eyes maintained a blank stare on Vanessa with no idea of what else to say. He had never felt as speechless as he did at that moment, neither has he ever felt as disappointed in his entire life. 

There were many things he could have expected her to say, and could have accepted had she said them, but this was the least of them all.
