Iris stood unmoving, looking at the spot where Chrysanthe had disappeared into a portal with the Unseelie King. The silence that followed was eerie, making her wonder if all of it had just been a dream.
It was only then it sunk to her that things were getting out of hand, and she found herself uncertain of what awaits them in the future. Even if her friends say that it wasn't her fault, Iris was aware that their decisions were made partly because of her.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger building inside her. Iris was so frustrated, she wanted to scream but she didn't. It took a lot of effort for her to keep herself together and not break down like Chrysanthe did. She curled her hands into fists, focusing on the biting pain of her nails against her palm. Everyone was being taken away from her and she wanted to know why.
