//Gladly. Do you want to do it, or do you want for me to do it?
//You can do it, I'm going to start getting used to this new spiritual sea before our conscious energy runs out. After I'm situated, I'll make your nest too, and then I'll give you the rest of my conscious energy to finish explaining whatever it is you need to explain to the two new inheritors.
//Alright, it's been nice knowing you, Crow. Rest in peace, you deserve it.
//Farewell, Swan.
Then, one of the voices left, as I could feel it pulling itself out of the "chat" that we shared.
//So, can you please explain the situation now?
Asked the villain, as she prodded the "Swan" to start with its explanation.
//First, let me tell the two of you a story...
...
One Thousand Years Ago:
Once upon a time, there was a little baby boy that had just been abandoned to the mortal realm after having been born in True Murim.
This boy grew up like any normal boy after having been adopted by a family that had taken pity on him.
But then, during a war between clans, the clan, and more specifically, the family that had taken him in, was completely destroyed except for him and his sister.
The only reason they had been able to live was because the two of them had both awakened their dao beasts at the last second, protecting each other's body's from a blast of energy that an enemy cultivator had sent into their home.
It was only after another day had passed that they were both able to wake up, and seeing the destruction of their village, they spent the rest of the week gathering the bodies of their clansmen and giving them proper burials.
Later on, they would laugh together about how they had awakened their dao beasts only to protect the other, but right now, the brother and sister not connected by blood were in the process of mourning everything that they had ever known.
After a while, they overcame their sorrows and set off an a journey to find a sect that was supposedly the best one in their area.
And well, the normal stuff happened and the two were able to pass the sect's examination and both became outer disciples of the sect, yet, the sister was taken away as she had been recruited into a girls only pavilion.
They had separated quietly, but had promised that, after 10 years of cultivation, the both of them would fight against each other during the sect's disciple tournament to enter the blessed land.
So, the girl had left to cultivate in seclusion in the pavilion, whilst the boy started climbing up the ranks of the regular sect.
Catching the eye of an elder, he had been given special instruction, allowing him to quickly promote himself from an outer sect disciple to an inner sect disciple.
Then, the boy had been taken directly under the elder that had privately tutored him, earning himself the promotion from inner sect disciple to legacy disciple quickly after he had been promoted from being an outer sect disciple.
Afterwards, the boy cultivated peacefully, letting time flow past him like a rushing river flowing against a boulder standing tall in a stream.
And, as water weathers a boulder down, time also refined the boy, as he grew stronger and stronger each day, shedding his old weaknesses, only to replace them with his strengths.
Finally, the tournament to enter the blessed land came around, and the two met each other again.
Even after ten years, they had been able to recognize each other at first sight.
Even as the sister had turned into a peerless beauty and the brother had turned into a handsome sword, they instinctively knew who the other was in the sea of sect disciples.
And so, they had avoided battle with each other, both of them battling their way to the top, as finally, the met each other in the final battle of the tournament.
By now, they had both been guaranteed admission into the blessed land, but they still went all out in their fight against each other.
The end result, like the amount of commitment that they had held to their promise, was a tie.
In the end, they had both cultivated past the mortal stage of cultivation, and had entered the True Murim after using every single resource that they had gained from the blessed land.
Along the way, they had fallen in love, and just before their heavenly tribulations, they had been married in a grand ceremony in the sect that had become their home after all these years.
But, at the happiest time in their lives, a looming shadow quickly descended on the two of them.
You see, after the boy had entered the True Murim, his actual clan had realized his presence, and had set out to exterminate him.
At first, they only sent cannon fodder, but, as they soon learned, the pair were almost indestructible as long as they were together.
So, hatching a plan, the elders of the boy's original clan were successfully able to separate the two lovers.
Seeing that there was no escape from the ingenious trap, the two lovers both decided that they would rather end their lives before watching the other being killed.
And so, they had done exactly that.
But, their wills were eternal, and they were able to escape back to their original, mortal world.
The wills, before falling back into the mortal world, had merged themselves each with a legendary dao beast, and these two wills had then traveled to this cave, where the two lovers had first professed their love to each other.
Here, they stayed, as they slowly forgot about their past, just waiting for two people worthy of their inheritance to show up.
...
Present Day:
//And that's where the two of you come in.
After hearing this story, I couldn't help but feel a little weirded out, as, judging from the previous identity of these dao beast souls, and what had happened to my spiritual sea, it was obvious what had happened.
//By any chance, was the reason the two lovers were almost unkillable when they were with each other because they shared a spiritual sea?
//Yes. You see, their love for each other ran infinitely deep, to the point that their souls had merged together. That is why the both of you can use both Crow and I. Of course, if you used us dao beasts in unison with each other, you would be able to unleash a killer move capable of killing a scholar two full steps above you.
//But then...
//Quiet, I don't have much time left, please let me explain everything before my consciousness fades away.
4/5 for today.
