章節 19: I am your good friend, right?
Like it is said, peaceful times don't stay for long.
Yuan Li's peaceful life came to an end.
Today, when she got the call that Chen Ziyue was awake, her heart almost stopped beating. She was so scared that she left all her work and went straight to the hospital. Internally, she was full of guilt because she didn't know how to face Chen Ziyue. Standing outside her door, she took a few deep breaths to mentally calm herself down.
Knowing that Chen Ziyue was good at reading expressions and body language, she didn't want to go in front of her with a guilty face. It wouldn't even take Chen Ziyue a second to realize something was wrong with her. She would get caught and then questioned. If Chen Ziyue questioned her, then she had a bigger risk of her lies or evil deeds getting exposed. She didn't want that to happen to her.
Hence, she tried to make herself look as normal as possible. Once she entered the room, she was very cautious with her actions and words. However, to her surprise, she got the news that Chen Ziyue was suffering from memory loss. It was extremely happy news for her after all, if Chen Ziyue didn't remember anything then she would have also forgotten about her skills.
Now, no matter what she said Chen Ziyue would have to believe in her as she was her agent and friend. However, what she didn't expect was that instead of trusting her, Chen Ziyue was questioning her and blaming her for not doing her job properly. This was so unlike her. The previous Chen Ziyue would fully let her do her thing, talk politely and be nice to her. Unlike the current one, who was interrogating her and blaming her.
She did not like this version of Chen Ziyue.
"What? Cat got your tongue? Why are you not answering me?" Bai Liyue raised her brows.
Yuan Li frowned. "You did not tell me anything."
"That means we were not good friends like you said," Bia Liyue commented.
"But Ziyue we were good-"
However, before Yuan Li could say anything, Bai Liyue interrupted her. "Yuan Li, in these two years, why didn't you do anything to clear my name? I mean, as my agent you should have at least tried to find the truth of the matter right? And, my company, what did they do? As their artist, they should have carried out an investigation, right?"
"I...I... I did try to find the truth, but all my efforts were useless," Yuan Li lied.
"Were they?" Bai Liyue chuckled.
Now, as she was watching her agent and hearing her words, she was getting more and more confident that there was a big problem with her agent. This woman might have done something behind Chen Ziyue's back to her. She was sure that her agent might have played some kind of a role in this incident.
"Forget it," Bai Liyue shrugged carelessly. "What about the company? What do they have to say about this incident?"
"Umm.... they believe in this incident and hence, they have decided to abandon you."
"I see..." Bai Liyue nodded.
After hearing this news, she was a little sad. Nobody was even trying to get to the bottom of this incident. Everyone had already accepted that she was in a relationship with that businessman. But was she really? Bai Liyue sighed, knowing that she will have to figure out the truth on her own. As for the fact that her company was abandoning her, she didn't care about that.
Anyways, it was not like she was going to stay in that company any longer. She was going to change her career and get into acting so, it was going to happen any day sooner.
Meanwhile, Yuan Li sat on the edge of her seat in anticipation. On the surface, she tried to remain as calm as possible but her heart was pounding with fear. She didn't know whether Chen Ziyue believed in her words or not. Biting her lips, she took a quick glance at her and noticed that Chen Ziyue seemed lost in some thoughts.
"Ziyue, what are you thinking?" she asked carefully.
Bai Liyue looked at her. "Give me your phone."
"W-what?"
"Your phone," Bai Liyue asked again.
Yuan Li turned nervous. Biting her lips, she frowned at the sudden request. Why was Chen Ziyue asking for her phone? What did she want to do? Oh no!!!! Did Chen Ziyue suspect her? Was she trying to check her phone for clues?
Dammit!!!! They were messages in her phone from that person. If Chen Ziyue saw them, then everything would be finished. She would be exposed.
No! This cannot happen.
Yuan Li bit her cheeks internally and gripped her phone tightly. Her face paled as several senario of her being caught and imprison in jail began to flash through her mind. She.... she cannot give her phone to Chen Ziyue.
No! She doesn't want to go to jail.
"Yuan Li," Bai Liyue looked at her and asked again. "Your phone please...."
Yuan Li gulped nervously. "Z-ziyue... what... why do you need my phone?"
"I want to check something."
"C-check something? Check what?"
Bai Liyue smiled in her heart. She was enjoying Yuan Li's state of nervousness. By the way, Yuan Li was gripping her phone, she knew that there must be something on that phone that she didn't want anybody to see. It would have been better if she could see what Yuan Li was hiding from her, but now was not the time.
Right now, she wanted to check something else.
"Yuan Li, what's wrong with you? Why do you look so pale?" Bai Liyue questioned slowly. "What's in that phone? Is there something in that phone that I shouldn't see?"
"No!" Yuan Li answered immediately. Realizing that she was too abrupt to answer, she laughed nervously and tried to look calm. "I mean, it's my phone. There are some personal things and private photos on my phone. Nothing else. It's just that I just feel a little uncomfortable giving my phone to somebody else."
Bai Liyue nodded. "Oh..... I understand."
Yuan Li sighed in relief thinking that Chen Ziyue had given up on her request. She was safe now.
"But, I am not somebody else. I am your good friend, right? And friends share everything. Am I right?" Bia Liyue asked, batting her eyelashes innocently.
Yuan Li: "......"
(You are just a friend, not my husband. Why should I share everything with you?)
