Once we were alone again, I sighed in relief. I wasn't used to being a subservient person. Not even when I was in a story when I was the servant, I didn't take well to being 'less' than anyone else. This was going to be hard.

"You can just be yourself, you know. If I tell them that you are here as my lover and not my property, they will treat you with respect. I know that they would."

"You have a lot of confidence in these people." I narrowed my eyes at him, but I was already moving to get dressed. I didn't want to feel so exposed, even when it was just the two of us.

"The character that I am has that confidence, and I have no reason to doubt it. Trust me, Alex, things will go just fine here."

"Grace." I corrected him.

"What?" He looked at me with confusion marring his handsome face.

"I am Grace, and you are Hayden. We need to call each other by those names, or the others will suspect something."
