章節 86: Chapter Eighty Seven

Before either of you could respond, Toru linked her arm with yours, her other arm wrapping around Bakugo's. "This is going to be so much fun you guys, what should we do first!?" Toru's eyes darted around, Bakugo stared in disbelief at the visible girl, his blood pressure quickly rising.

"We were just about to head over to the beer gardens." You replied, Toru puckered her lips, she was twenty unlike the two of you, she couldn't join.

"The beer gardens?" Toru repeats, "Who wants to do something boring like that!" She waves her hand, "Oh-!" She points to the large colorful sphere, "-let's go to the Ferris Wheel-!" Toru giggles. "-we can get a better look to see what's all around!"

"Why would we need to do that?" Bakugo questioned; his annoyance written all over his face as he crams his hands into his pants pockets. "There are maps for a reason."

"What do you say (y.n)!?" Toru turns to you.

"Uh..." You were cut off by Toru pulling on your arm. You inhaled a deep breath, tension in your shoulders tightened as you were last to get inside the pod, Toru made sure to slide right next to Bakugo, her excitement barely contained as she fiddled with her hands.

As the Ferris wheel slowly ascended, you tried to focus on the breathtaking view, but your attention kept getting pulled back to the conversation happening in front of you. Toru's laughter echoed in your ears, and you couldn't help but feel like an outsider looking in.

Why did you let Shiro talk you into going to this?

You sucked in a deep breath, keeping your gaze on the window and off Toru's hand sliding over Bakugo's bicep—this was going to be a long day.

The fair was full of attractions, you walked in front of Toru and Bakugo.

"I feel like people are looking at us." Toru muttered, inching closer to Bakugo.

"That's because they are." You replied dryly.

"Why?" Toru tilts her head, looking genuinely puzzled.

"You don't pay attention, do you?" Bakugo scowled, clearly irritated by Toru's obliviousness as her hand brushed against his arm. Toru leaned back, laughing as she playfully hit his arm.

"I totally do!" Toru waved her hand dismissively. "I just—you know, um-" Toru swallowed, "-oh look-!" Before Toru could finish her sentence, her attention was diverted by a stand nearby. "Hey, (y.n), want to challenge me?" She asked enthusiastically pointing over to the balloon darts.

"Are you being serious?" You furrowed your brows, struggling to read her sincerity.

"Ever since our training with you, I've been practicing my aim!" Toru giggles.

"Really?" Bakugo looks over to her, Toru instantly blushes, feeling she had impressed the explosive blond.

"Ye-Yeah!" She quickly nods, "I'm getting pretty good!"

"Let's see if you can back up that mouth of yours." Bakugo smirked, his competitive side showing. You couldn't help but roll your eyes at the interaction.

As you all approached the booth, Bakugo positioned himself in the middle, and you picked a spot. However, your plans were halted when the carny intervened, pointing at you and declaring that you couldn't participate.

"Why the hell not-?" Bakugo scowled. "-you got a problem with us-!?"

"She-She's a trained marksman-!" The carny defended, gesturing to the other players down the line. "-it's not fair to everyone else!"

"Their shitty-!" Bakugo barked, but you placed a hand on his arm.

"It's fine." You shut Bakugo down.

"No, it's not-!" He frowned, snapping his gaze down onto you.

"He has a point." You nod to the carny actively sweating under Bakugo's intense glare. "You two play, I'll just watch."

"No-" Bakugo went to protest, if you can't participate, he didn't want too either.

"Guys-" Toru leaned until her face was pressed against Bakugo's shoulder. "-everyone's waiting to play."

"Tch." Bakugo clicked his tongue in annoyance, picking up his collection of darts and shooting you a quick glance before aiming at the targets.

As the game began, you stood off to the side, your arms crossed as you watched the competition unfold. While the others were engrossed in the game, your attention wavered. The distant rumble of a roller coaster caught your ear, and you scanned the area absently.

In the midst of this, a glint of polished metal caught your eye from an alleyway nestled between two buildings. You stared for a moment before your brain registered what you were seeing. "Tank?" You murmured, your heart racing. Your instincts took over, and you dashed forward, maneuvering through the crowd.

However, your pursuit was hindered by a boisterous family passing by, obscuring your view. You maneuvered around them and arrived at the mouth of the alleyway, heart pounding, only to find it empty.

"What?" You muttered in frustration, searching for any trace of your brother having been there.

"(y.n)?" Bakugo's touch on your shoulder made you whirl around, startled. The shock was evident on your face. "Are you—"

You cut him off before he could finish, your attention already shifting back to the alleyway. "I—" You began, but then turned back around, scanning the empty space. "Never mind."

"Are you sure?" Bakugo's concern was noticeable.

Lost in your thoughts and the fleeting image you thought you had seen, you felt briefly shaken. You took a moment to collect yourself, shaking off the unease that had gripped you.

"Yeah, I'm fine." You muttered, "It must've been my imagination."

Bakugo's scrutiny didn't waver, but he ultimately let the matter drop for now. Toru had finished her turn at the booth, and she was practically bouncing with excitement as she showed off her score, eagerly challenging Bakugo to beat it.

"It's your turn," Toru's grin widened. "Let's see what you can do!"

"But he mentioned—" you started to say.

"I convinced him to let you have a go-" Toru interrupted with a mischievous smile, "-since there's no one else waiting."

You cast a glance at the colorful balloon, your thoughts still lingering on the alleyway encounter. Nonetheless, you picked up darts lined up before you, aligning your focus between the game and the strange incident. As you aimed and shot the dart forward, you struck the balloons with remarkable precision, easily surpassing Toru's score.

Bakugo's eyebrows shot up, a mix of irritation and reluctant admiration playing across his features. "Impressive score for a rigged game."

You couldn't help but smirk at his begrudging compliment.

"Let's go check out the roller coasters!" Toru's excitement was infectious as she bounded ahead.

You followed her bouncing steps until a vibration in your pocket caught your attention. Retrieving your phone, you found a text message from Shiro on the screen.
