#Chapter 39 A little darkness is in order

Something was wrong. I felt it so intensely that I doubled over when I got out of bed. My insides burned and it felt as if something was in pain… or someone.

I tried to forget her for weeks. I did everything I could to get her out of my mind and be at peace with the fact that I couldn’t reach her—but her face was front and centered in my mind when that phantom pain hit me.

Was she in trouble? Did someone hurt her?

It didn’t matter if she was. I wouldn’t be able to save her from—this. Whatever this was.

I gripped my windowsill as the pain passed through me. And just like that, it was gone as if it was never there. But her face remained. It was her, it had to be from her.

I don’t know what caused it or why after all these weeks I had finally felt something back. Every part of me wanted to run to her and break through any wall that kept me from her—
