#Chapter 26 Shadows in the trees
Patara - third
A tall, dark figure stepped out of the trees and headed right towards them. Dylan immediately moved Patara behind him before he could get a good look at her. She quickly realized that the man’s face was wolfish, as if he was starting to shift but hadn’t yet.
The man had his eyes locked on Patara over Dylan’s shoulder. He was just tall enough to see her hiding behind him. His lips curved up in a dark smile as he inhaled deeply.
“I love how a human smells. Sweeter than any other meat offered.”
“Careful. I wouldn’t want to rip out your heart in front of the lady.” Dylan said. His voice held a poison that made the man finally look at him.
“Where’s all your soldiers at now, pretty boy?” The man taunted. Dylan closed his hands into fists at his sides.
“I’m not going to give you another warning.” Dylan said calmly. “I don’t want to do this in front of her.”
