章節 18: १८
Rumi dragged her feet through the entrance of the company. All she wanted to do was lay in her bed right now. She was exhausted, mentally. And didn't wanted to move at all. Placing her id on the detector, she waited for glass doors to open. The doors opened but her feet felt heavy to move.
"Ma'am?" The guard called wondering why was the woman standing in between.
"Ah, ye." Rumi bowed her head and started dragging her feet again. "I don't wanna do anything today." She cried heading towards the elevator. A crowd of girls were gathered in the front. "Why is it crowded today?" Rumi questioned glancing around in suspicion. Everything looked normal. Nobody was running around like something big happened. So...? Rumi trailed off walking near the group gathered.
"We should really take stairs." One of the girls said letting out a big sigh.
"Yah, take stairs? Are you mad or what?" Another one retorted crossing her arms. "Where did manager oppa went off to?" She asked turning around when her eyes met Rumi's. Uncrossing her arms, she bowed and stepped aside. "Step aside." She said nudging the other girls.
A girl group? But what are they doing at staff elevator? Rumi bowed back and walked towards the elevator door. "Is something wrong?" She causally asked looking the girl who had noticed her.
"No. The elevator, not working." The girl answered moving her hands around trying to explain the situation. Rumi stared at her with eyebrows raised, wondering why she was speaking in English when Rumi had clearly asked her in Korean. Then she realised, a foreigner walking through the native crowd, of course.
"Ah mianhamnida." The girl beside her grabbed her and pulled aside. "The other elevators are under maintenance and we don't have access to use this one." She calmly explained. Looks like the leader of the group. Rumi nodded understanding and turned back towards the elevator, she pressed her id and walked in as the door opened. The girls stared at her.
"Aren't you all going to get in?" She asked raising her eyebrow. The girls quickly stepped in bowing towards her while thanking her. "Which floor you all are heading to?" She asked pressing on the nine as her own destination.
"The third floor, please." Rumi nodded and pressed on the three making it glow blue.
"You should inform your manager."
"De?" The leader looked at her in question.
"That you have gotten on the elevator. He might get worried, noticing you all gone." Rumi answered causally pulling out her handphone surfing through it. After yesterday's party she had received lots of text and calls from Hyun, for God knows what reason. She hadn't been in right mind so she had ignored those, deciding to talk with him later when she was sane.
"Ah, ye, ye." The leader nodded pulling out her own handphone. "I'll text him-" She was cut off with sudden jerk of elevator as screams filled the elevator. Rumi grabbed on the handle behind to stable herself. The elevator finally came to stop, lights gone drowning the girls and her in darkness. If the screams didn't made her deaf then the grip on her body definitely suffocated her.
"Girls, calm down. The elevator has come to stop." Rumi assured the girls.
"Yedera, calm down." The leader spoke again assuring the girls. She had turned on the flash on her handphone lighting up the darkness in the elevator. The girls had grabbed on each other except for one. "Seo Yeon-ah..." The leader called. "Let go of..."
Rumi held up her hand before moving it and wrapping it around Seo Yeon who had attached herself to Rumi. The poor girl was shaking. Rumi started patting her back lightly. "Gwenchanayo. I am here." Rumi whispered patting her back. Seo Yeon stopped shaking but her grip didn't loosen.
"Jogiyo..." The leader spoke making Rumi look up and smiled in assurance.
"It's okay." She said. "Are you all alright?" She asked scanning the girls faces who all nodded their head in assurance. "Okay." She nodded her own head before turning her head to look at the button panel. "Can you show some light here?" She asked trying to find the emergency button.
"Ah, ye, ye." The light was flashed on the buttons. Rumi thanked pressing the emergency button. Soon the elevator was filled with a man's voice. "Ye, we are stuck in staff elevator two." Rumi said not waiting for the man's question. "This is Rumi Raikar from production department and I have eight girls with me. They are-" She looked at girls for their name but they stared at her in return, sighing "-a girl group."
"Yes, we are really sorry about the inconvenience. The elevators were going under maintenance and one of the worker accidentally stopped the wrong the elevator. We are really sorry. The elevator will start working again in a minute." The man explained. Rumi let out a huge sigh unknowingly. "Ma'am we are really sorry." The poor man apologized again worried about the inconvenience.
"Arasseoyo. Thank you." Rumi sighed and ended the call. She was annoyed at this moment. She had a bad day already going on for her and now she had be stuck in this damn elevator. "Can this day go any better?" She said rubbing her forehead.
"Seo Yeon-ah, let go of Rumi-ssi and come her." One of the girls said trying to pull Seo Yeon who had attached herself to Rumi. Seo Yeon's both arms tightly wrapped around her and head buried under Rumi's chin. "A-ani." Seo Yeon said quivering while shaking of her fellow member's grip. "It's okay. I don't mind. And she's scared so let her be." Rumi said patting Seo Yeon head.
"Ye." The girl nodded when the lights were turned on and the elevator started moving again. "Finally." All the girls sighed looking the light which had turned on. Their long journey to the third floor had finally came to end. As the elevator doors opened. The girls stepped outside one by one. Rumi looked down at the head attached to her chest. Smiling she also stepped outside with Seo Yeon still attached to her.
"Rumi-ssi-"
"It's okay. I'll drop you off." Rumi smiled as the girls nodded their heads. "Where are you all heading off to?" She asked.
"Uh. Practice room. We were suppose to be there twenty minutes ago." One of the girls answered worried. If not for the elevator they would've saved at least ten minutes. "Now, we have less time to practice." She said with a pout. "Jiheon-ah!" One of her members slapped her arm scolding her. They had already caused inconvenience to Rumi by Seo Yeon being attached to her and now other was complaining to her. Rumi laughed at them.
"So, are you guys preparing for- what's that word? Comeback? Are you guys preparing for comeback?" Rumi asked.
"Aniyo. We are having a concert coming at end of this month." Jiheon answered completely ignoring her member's scolding. "Really? Then you girls must be really busy?" Rumi said as the girls came to stop in front of the practice.
"De." The leader spoke. "Rumi-ssi, thank you for your help and..." She trailed off looking at her member cuddling under Rumi's arm. Rumi smiled looking down at Seo Yeon.
"Seo Yeon-ssi?" Rumi called her name. "Ye?" A light whisper was heard in reply. "Are you feeling okay? Or do you need to go infirmary?" Hearing that Seo Yeon slowly let go of her and stepped back with her head bowed. "Are you really okay?" Rumi asked leaned down to look at her hidden face.
"De... I am okay." She shyly replied avoiding Rumi's eyes. Rumi smiled at her shyness leaning back and patted her head light. "Umm-"
"Yah Rumi-ya!" Rumi snapped her head at the loud voice, wondering who here knew her? It was Hoshi walking out of the room from other side with his little brother following behind. Rumi sighed rolling her eyes, these kids are always around. "What are you doing here?" Hoshi asked looking at her and then at the girls who greeted him in respect, with him and Chan following.
"Just roaming around because I don't wanna work." Rumi replied sarcastically though it was truth. She really didn't wanna work today.
"Really? Then you should've texted me! We can hang out together." Hoshi smiled already planning what to do. "Hyung, she was being sarcastic." Chan whispered from behind before crossing his arms and staring down Rumi. "You gave him your number but not to me." Rumi rolled her eyes.
"You never asked me." She replied turning towards the girls. "You girls go on. Don't mind these kids." She said smiling at them, protests against being called kids were heard but Rumi paid no heed. Her sleeve was lightly tugged at gaining her attention. It was Seo Yeon shyly looking up at her. "Ye?" Rumi asked looking down at her.
"Gomawayo." She whispered. Rumi smiled leaning down and patting her head. "Yee.." She laughed at Seo Yeon's blushing cheeks.
"Wah...Why don't you ever treat me like that?" Chan commented from side looking at her and Seo Yeon's exchange. Rumi rolled her eyes and urged the girls to move along.
"Why would I treat disrespectful kid like that?" Rumi said waving goodbye to girls who bowed back. "And I like cute kids like Seo Yeon-ssi not kids like you." She said pointing her finger and narrowing her eyes at Chan. Who scoffed and crossed his arm following along her and Hoshi who also bid goodbye to girls.
"Why would I respect you? You are not my noona or anything?" He huffed rolling his eyes. Rumi stopped making Hoshi almost bump into her. "Wae?" Chan asked looking at her evil smirk. "Why are smiling like that?" He asked backing away as Rumi started walking towards him. "Ani-" He was cut off when threw her arm around his shoulder and caught him in a chokehold. "Ahh! What are you doing? Hyung!" Chan cried.
"I do remember, you addressing me as noona. Don't you Hoshi?" She asked smiling as Hoshi who nodded his head in affirmative, remembering that he had in fact called her noona days ago when they had caught that pervert.
"Aniiiiii...When did I?" Chan cried. "Let go off me! You rock!" He cried trying to shake off her hold. "What are you?! A rock-wall? Why-wouldn't-you-budge?!" Rumi laughed at his struggle. "How about you call me noona again, hmm?" Rumi said evilly giggling. "Go on. Rumi noona." She teased.
"Shiro! I won't! Which noona treat their dongsaeng like this!?" Chan cried. "I do." Rumi laughed. "Ahhhh...Aarso. Aarso. Loosen your grip. I can't talk like this." Chan tapped her arm defeated. "Be nicer." Rumi said.
"Aish. Okay. Rumi noona let go off me. I won't disrespect you hence forth." Chan said sighing. Rumi hummed but still didn't let go off him.
"SUNBAE-NIM!" A loud voice startled three of them. It was so loud that echoes could be heard. Three of them look at the source to see Hyun storming towards them. Hoshi backed away in cautious as Hyun pulled brakes in front of Rumi and Chan who looked at him curiously, at his sudden burst. He glanced at Chan then at the arm around him. Grabbing the arm, he pulled it off freeing Chan from Rumi's clutches.
"Woah..." Rumi said as she was pulled away to stand mere inches away from Hyun. She could feel his heavy breathing on her face.
"Sunbae-nim, what were you doing?" Hyun asked eyes fixed on hers. Rumi blinked her eyes few times. What did just happen? She could hear Chan questioning Hoshi about Hyun and who was he to Rumi. "Umm..." Rumi trailed still trying to understand Hyun's sudden action.
"Hyun-ssi, it was nothing." Hoshi said from behind, distracting Hyun enough for Rumi to separate herself from him and stand aside. Hyun glanced at Hoshi then back at Rumi, who awkwardly laughed and patted his arm. "Yes, it was nothing. We were just kidding around. Don't need to get jealous here."
"De! I was jealous." Heh? Rumi blinked her few times before glancing at the two idols, checking if her ears heard it right. They did, looking at their expression. What was happening here? She was trying to tease Hyun, but why was it backfiring?
"Hahaha. Hyun-ah-"
"How can you be so shameless and causally grab a man in your arms like that?" Hyun asked narrowing his eyes at Rumi.
"W-what?" Rumi looked at him confused. "What are you talking about Hyun-ah?" Rumi forcefully smiled tightening her grip on Hyun arm, warning him. Two pairs of curious eyes were staring at them having no intention to leave. "Ah, you must have not gotten any sleep yesterday? We had to attend a party last night." Rumi explained looking at Hoshi and Chan. "How about I treat you to a coffee, huh?" She said pulling Hyun with her, escaping the curious eyes.
"Yedera, I'll see you around. Bye." She quickly pulled Hyun back into the elevator and let out a sigh of relief. "Woah! What was that?!" She asked slapping Hyun's arm.
"What was what?" Hyun asked scoffing at her. Rumi crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes down at him. Staring at him for few seconds she asked. "Were you really jealous?" Causing Hyun to go in a coughing fit. "Yah, yah." She said patting his back, more like hitting.
"M-mwo? Are y-you dumb or what?" Hyun said not meeting her eyes. "I was just playing along your dumb game." He explained. "And what were you even thinking? Grabbing an idol around like that? Do you even have any idea how bad it would have been if someone had seen you like that?" Rumi rolled her eyes; Hyun's nagging had no pause. "Are you even listening to me?" He asked grabbing her arm making her look at him. "Don't go around doing that, okay?" He warned.
"Aarso. Now stop nagging. I already feel like not doing anything, don't bore me." Rumi said getting off the elevator. Hyun followed along. "By the way, why were you spamming with all those texts and calls?"
"Well-yesterday. I walked off without explaining." Rumi turned around looking at him with furrowed eyebrows. "I-well. I am sorry, I didn't tell you about it earlier. I just thought it didn't matter. I mean, even though he is my father. There's really-"
"Ahh...about Chief Gwok." Rumi nodded finally getting at it. "What does that have to do with you spamming me with calls?" Hyun stared at her in response. Wondering why he bothered explaining to her knowing her nature. Chuckling to himself, he shook his head.
"Ani. It was nothing." He smiled looking at her cute confused face. "Don't worry. I'll see you at lunch." He said before leaving Rumi with her dumb, confused self.
