The sun was high up in the sky. A black sedan was speeding off into the depths of the forest, a charming middle-aged woman was driving the car while Grace and her eight-year-old younger brother Mark whom she was hugging tightly were sitting in the back seat of the car.
" Grace! Take your brother and jump out of the car", Grace's mother ordered. Grace's body tensed even more hearing her mother.
"No mom! We won't leave you alone!", Mark shouted. "Yes, mom! We won't!", Grace added. Warmth gushed inside Moneta's heart, she couldn't help but smile bitterly and said, "Listen to your mother for once little hearts, it's more dangerous for all of us if you don't get off now and we are running out of time. I promise I'll find you once everything's fine alright?
Mark sniffed trying to hold back his tears and reluctantly nodded his head. Grace wrapped herself around her brother and opened the car door. Clenching her teeth Grace jumped out of the car along with her brother, they rolled down together and lost consciousness.
When Grace woke up it was already pitch black. She feels a splitting headache and a sticky feeling on her face. She tries to turnover while a sharp pain shot through her left leg, she struggles to get up with bruises almost all over her body. Grace finds her brother sleeping curled up beside a tree. She goes over to check on Mark, she reaches her hand towards his face only to find him burning hot. She takes off her sweater and down coat to cover her brother leaving herself a thin t-shirt that can barely block the cold and hugs her brother to sleep.
