章節 11: Chapter 11
It's his second year of the Academy and his stats are looking pretty good.

He managed to upgrade Water bending at 30% and obtained Healing at 35%. Now he's just trying to improve Mihawk's template, though most of it consists of strength and agility training.
He's ready for the next year of Academy that starts tomorrow. His physical conditioning is going great. He can do the number of exercises Gai used to do before he left the second semester. He still gives him pointers when they meet, which is every day at lunchtime. Because even if they're separated by different classes, their friendship is pretty tight.
The obstacle course he can do without breaking a sweat. The bukijutsu training is not strong but at least now he can manage to reach the mark. Their taijutsu katas are also slow going as he can't quite 'see' the other teacher as he demonstrates. And while he's corrected enough times, he can't always take their attention away.
Gai also helps him, alongside Obito, who is surprisingly good at taijutsu. Though he's noticed how Obito is better at being taught hands-on than with the theory. He mostly fights to stay awake on theory.
The second year also comes and goes. They do more taijutsu spars, which he's good at, but not as he would have been if he had a sword in his hands. They also get to learn the leaf concentration technique, which he already mastered, though the hard part is not sticking the leaf on your body but trying to divide one's concentration to be able to hold more than two. Then there is the tree-walking exercise and water walking, which doesn't surprise him that they are being taught as it is wartime. The obstacle courses get more complicated. However, thanks to his Kenbunshoku Haki, it's a breeze.
Then there are the tactics and strategies that they learn, which it's a pain. He can say that he's bad, but he also isn't good either. Too soft-hearted to give the types of orders on a battlefield. He always tries to reduce the number of casualties even if he loses the battle. At the end of the year, at least he can compromise somehow. Though this does tell him he will never be the 'greater good' type of person.
He doesn't know if that's good or bad. After all, he knows the future, he has to at least try to think about the end goal. Which is killing or sealing the Otsutsuki.

Their memories are slowly bleeding through, though luckily there are no emotions attached to them. It's mostly like watching a movie. Katara's life he knew of because of the cartoon, but before obtaining his template, his information about Mihawk was only the basics.
Now he usually practices after school, but they had a small three-week vacation before the start of the third year so he spends most of his day training. He usually practices his new ability by creating balls of ice on top of his head and then letting them fall, using his bamboo stick to slash everyone before it falls onto the ground. When he's able to do a number, he increases the quantity. Afterward, he heals the soreness in his muscles with the water.
However, today it seems he has gone overboard as he can't even move his arms to do it.
Well, using this time to think, his thoughts go back to the village. From what he's heard going around among the villagers, Hatake Sakumo already failed his mission, and, by their words, the war set off, growing in intensity. Which is stupid, a war doesn't worsen because of a single action. The third Ninja war was brewing since the last war finished, they just needed an excuse to do it. Afterward, everything that happens is because of greed.
It's been close to a month since the rumors started and they have gotten worse, though luckily there is no news about Sakumo's death, so he counts it as a win.
He mentally shrugs, leisurely resting from training, his arms feeling like jelly. While he's reading his status page and fantasying about all the new abilities he will be able to do in the future, he decides to continue training, maybe do a couple of sit-ups until he can feel his arms.
However, he hears the bushes moving as soon as he stands up. Extending his senses, he feels two people coming near, one much smaller than the other. The small one seems pretty familiar, but…
"Yes?" he says once the people are at the border of the training ground.
