章節 89: Birthday

Jake's POV

"She's okay and would be up soon,"

Those were the doctor's parting words before he left. He said her immune system was weak and it was hard for her to digest the alcohol that she drank. I blame Kimberly for all of this!

I sat on the chair by her bedside, waiting for the moment she would flutter those eyes open. But she didn't. The doctor said she'd be up anytime soon, yet after 3 hours that 'soon' was yet to arrive.

"Violet," I called out softly when I saw her eyebrows crease. She finally opened her eyes.

"Hey," I took her hands in mine but she was quick to slip it out immediately.

"Where's Kimberly?"

I can't believe those were the first words she uttered as soon as she woke.

"Forget Kimberly," I dismissed, "how are you feeling? Should I call the doctor?" I tried not to leak the worry in my voice. How could she ask of Kimberly first?! What about me, her mate?!

"I'm good," She said dryly, "is my mum here?"
