She looked into his swirling eyes. The pain receded, the cold disappeared, and she was wrapped in a comforting warmth. She closed her eyes. When she opened them again, the pain was gone, her body strangely light.
"It's okay, Sabrina. They broke some of your ribs, but I healed them," Mark said.
She tried to smile at him, but her lips wouldn't cooperate. "Thank heavens for freaky gargoyle healing power. They threw me out of the car and Carl stepped on me, but I think my ribs cracked when the big man stepped on me when he got out of the car."
Mark's fists balled and his eyes darkened. "That little shit dies, even if I have to be at war with Herman, I'll kill him."
