Kingshouse Port, Skagos, The North, Third Moon of 279 AC
The Streets of Kingshouse Port, once known as Kingshouse Town, were busting with people, as they always were; the now port-city was the entry point of Skagos, and as such, Lord Dovahkiin project it to be divided into sections, two residentials and four commercial/industrial, the industrial areas were mostly made of Shipyards, where they build some ships to be sold down south to small Houses but mostly to be kept in Skagos as part of the Skagossi fleet.
There were also other small industries, such as Meadery, Brandys, wooden crafts, etc. While Winterhold took care of most of the domestic issues, such as storage, maintenance, and harvest of food (except seafood), mining, metalworking, etc., Kingshouse Port took care of anything related to trading outside of skagos and naval affairs, such as transportation, security and well maintenance of all export/import goods, ship construction and maintenance, and the logistics of distributing and trading Seafood.
Another reason for the number of people on the streets other than the usual status quo of the Port-city was that Lord and Lady Dovahkiin would be visiting the city; the reason for that was that Durin Woodhand would present House Dovahkiin's with the first ship projected from the blueprints given to him by Lord Dovahkiin himself, The ship would make its first sail in the same day it was "Inaugurated" as Lord Dovahkiin and His wife would be heading south to Kingslanding at the Kings command. However, it was an open secret that the only reason Lord Dovahkiin was answering the King's summons was that Lady Dovahkiin wanted to travel before she gave birth to their child.
Dacey&Ragnar Dovahkiin POV
Ever since she married her husband, Dacey knew nothing but happiness; she had come to terms that she loved her husband; he was an affectionate and attentive man; he treated her as an equal and pretty allowed her to do whatever she wanted, from training with her Morning Star to swim on the Redwater river, just as long as she had a Dragonguard with her. Then she got pregnant, and she could almost feel his love for their unborn baby. Ragnar Dovahkiin was an exquisite man, one of a king, and he was hers by oath.
As she opened her eyes, Dacey saw a cup of water on her nightstand, she tried to move to get hold of her cup of water, but she felt her husband's arms pulling her closer to him; her back touched his abdomen, and she intuitively leaned her head on his chest
" My love, we must get up soon; today is the day we depart for Kingslanding," Dacey said, her voice weak and sleepy but clearly happy.
" Day, why do you want to go to Kingslanding so much? It's a really shit of a city. I would rather stay here with you, with our baby" Ragnar said as he put his hand on her belly; her baby bump was now large,
" It's not about Kingslanding; I wanted to travel with you, something just ours, before our child is born, something for us to remember, something done out of love other than out of duty," Dacey answered as she snuggled closer to him; they stood like that for a few minutes, in silence, only enjoying their other's company and body.
" How are the Giants settling in, Rag? I've heard that about 200 of them were living in Winterhold." Dacey asked as she calmly stroked Ragnar's hand on her belly
" That's about it; 200 of them are living in Winterhold, and 300 are living a few miles north. They are masters in agriculture, so we gave them a bunch of seeds and crops, and they will begin to farm the land. Apparently, mammoth dung is a good fertilizer. I'm also providing them with crops; they don't eat as much as we thought; each giant eats the equivalent of 2,5 men. They are also master constructors. I foresee an increase in their population very soon; life here is good for them." Ragnar answered his wife as he talked; he would give some small kisses and smell her hair.
" Aye… What about the children?" Dacey asked, smiling as she enjoyed her husband's affections.
" Acorn and the others began to carve faces on the wairwoods on the Redwater river; most wairwoods on the right side of the river are carved already. They are funny little creatures… they also began to attend my classes at the college. I gave them the lesson plans for the next seven moons; they learned everything I had planned for the students for this year. In a Moon… they are almost as talented as J'zargo and I… almost but not quite." Ragnar answered, his nose still on Dacey's hair
" Hum… is that worrisome?" Dacey asked
" No, not at all… the magic I'm teaching here is not battle mágic; I'm teaching them restoration, alteration, and illusion magic… and a little tiny bit of destruction magic. I could face 100 masters of destruction magic simultaneously, and I would win pretty easily… as would J'zargo… that Khajit was a genius…few Altmer could even hope to match his talent. I still don't know who's the most talented among us. Also, to graduate, they will need to swear a magic oath to the North, so…." Ragnar replied
Ragnar and Dacey kept talking for a few more minutes until Dacey had to get up to use the loo.
They took a bath together and went to meet Davos and the Maester; they had a long talk about the affairs of Skagos and the coming moons. By the end of the meeting, almost everything was settled
" We will depart to Kingslanding today. Davos, you will be in charge, but Midstinul will stay here to watch and aid you." Ragnar said, and Davos nodded.
" I will take Benjen with me, only Benjen as I can't take the heir to House Stane and Crowl as well as they have duties as my foster sons. They will stay in Kingshouse port, learning how to manage and care for a port-city/town," Ragnar said, and the Maester nodded
" My Lord, The Citadel chose to send Archmaester Marwyn to be Frozengrasp's ( That's the name I chose to replace Castle Volkihar) new maester and two acolytes of their choosing as well." The Maester said, and Ragnar's eyes narrowed
" You don't need to leave, Maester; you can return to be Kingshouse Maester… to help my steward there… unless you want to leave, that is," Ragnar said calmly; as much as he wanted to deny it, this Maester was quite capable losing him; after all, this time would be a waste… He was loyal, or at least he feared Ragnar so much that he wouldn't dare to go against him in any form or way. The man believed Ragnar to be a god playing a man.
" Aye, I would like to stay, my lord," the Maester replied.
" Good," Ragnar replied
It didn't take long for Ragnar and Dacey to get to Kingshouse port; the concrete roads made any trip faster and smoother, which for a pregnant woman, was a blessing.
Once they got to Kingshouse port, they were met by Sven The Steward and his household; they were all knelt waiting for Ragnar's words
" Kingshouse is yours, my Lord," Sven said
" All Rise. Come, Sven, walk with us; you can give the Reports on the way to Durin's warehouse." Ragnar said as he dismounted his horse, and Sven nodded, he looked at Dacey, who nodded, and he picked her up by her waist and put her down effortlessly.
" Thank you, love," She said, and Ragnar smiled at her
"Follow me, my Lord and Lady," Sven said as he began to walk towards Durin's Warehouse
"May I begin, my lord?" Sven asked
" Yes," Ragnar said; he had his arm interlocked with Dacey's as they walked, and they would eventually wave at people and smile at them; Dacey noticed that some children would throw flowers at them while giggling.
" Seafood trade has gone up by 11% this season; the main reason is that a few houses of the Vale began to export from us. The Ibbenese stopped cutting three on their Islands and began trade with the free-folk for it as you counseled them to; they would keep this for ten years if nothing goes wrong as their threes need time to grow. They said they give them cheap food and cheap metal for good wood. The Leviathan season is just a year from now. The Bay of seals season is almost here as well. Trade, in general, has gone up by 7% this season… The shipyards produced 15 more warships last year." Sven informed Ragnar, who just nodded in approval
" That's good, everything is going as The Maester and I projected," Ragnar said calmly
" What about trade with Bear Island?" Dacey asked absent-mindedly
" We've already delivered the ten warships promised; we took an idea from Harren The Black's book; we sailed the ships throughout the bite and then "carried" them on land and put them on Fever river," Sven said excitedly
" You… carried the warships? Through land?" Dacey asked, mesmerized by the idea
" Nay… we didn't exactly carry them; we placed some logs on the ground and rolled the ships on them…." Sven said, " It was more complicated than this, but that's basically what we did." Sven completed
" Impressive," Dacey said, and Ragnar nodded; Sven looked happy but didn't say anything
" Here we are, Durin's warehouse," Sven said
Ragnar and Dacey walked into the giant warehouse and were received by Durin himself, who looked to be in a severe case of sugar-rush
" Giant Lord! The Ship is marvelous! Marvelous! Never have I ever seen one similar to it! And those magic cannons will destroy everything in your path… just revolutionary!!!" Durin roared, and Ragnar laughed; those cannons were something the Dwemer had on their strongholds; Ragnar, with the help of Calcemo, reverse-engineered the cannons to place them on Nord Warships during the Second Great War, they shot explosive fireballs, which a strong ward could stop but no mage squadron could stop hundreds of them at the same time. Here in Westeros, they would reign supreme on sea. One greater soul gem would keep a cannon up and running for two years.
" Good, The North naval supremacy over the south is something we have wanted to achieve ever since Ragnar became Lord," Dacey said, her smile radiant.
" Aye… is everything ready, Durin?" Ragnar asked
" Aye, m'lord." Durin answered
" Good, what name did you pick out of those I presented you?" Ragnar asked eagerly
" I chose OldGods' Revenge… for no reason in particular" Durin said mischievously…
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Ragnar laughed, his laugh making the whole port shake a little.
" That's gold! I like your Durin! By Akatosh, you are one of a Kind!" Ragnar said as tears left his eyes…
It took Durin and his worker 30 months to drop the ship on the sea. The Biggest ship ever built, the Fist Galleon, 170 ft long, three-mast; the highest one stood at 80 ft, with 32 canons. Black as ebony and sturdier as they come, made entirely out of Ironwood. A floating castle.
The crew for such a ship was made of the best sailors available, experienced and strong! Eight hundred men between sailors, soldiers, and cleaning staff.
Lord and Lady Dovahkiin departed from Skagos to Kingslanding with OldGods' Revenge and three more warships, and the Ice Dragon flying above. No pirate would survive The OldGods' Revenge, nor would any greedy southerners,
