章節 532: The red dress

Dom smiled awkwardly, scolding himself internally for opening his big mouth. He should have known better than to add his input in this matter. Natasha was clearly not liking this at all, and yet here he was, opening his big mouth and saying things that were not in his place to say.

Technically he was in a place to speak his opinion since they were 'married' in public eye, but personally between the two of them, he definitely had no right to express what he thought she looked good in or not.

He was internally cursing himself for staying here while he could have just left a while ago. After all, he and Natasha did not come here together, he did not even know why he was waiting for her to finish up here before he left.

"Yes, I agree that this dress is very pretty even though I haven't seen the first one." said Dom as he saw no point of not sticking with his words now that he was already practically dragged into this.

"You see madam, he agrees with me, he knows a good dress when he sees one." said the woman excitedly, relieved that Dom was helping her out here.

"Hmmm, right..." said Natasha obviously not believing either of them. She was not sure why Dom was agreeing with this woman, maybe he was just trying to be nice, but Natasha could not care less, this woman's insistence was getting more annoying by the moment.

"Maybe you should try on the dress madam. Once you try it on you will see what we all see." said the woman as Natasha shook her head.

"I am not going to try on the dress, I don't want to." replied Natasha.

"Oh but madam, trust me, I only want nothing but the best for you." said the woman as by now Natasha had stopped paying her any attention, instead she turned to look at Dom who was a little bit startled wondering why she was suddenly looking at him.

"So you want me to buy the dress?" she asked him as Dom had a sudden look of fear flash in his eyes before it disappeared. Why was she also suddenly putting him in a touch spot?

Dom could tell from Natasha's aura that she wanted him to say no and he was more than ready to say now, but then he glanced at the woman and he soon regretted it afterwards.

There she was begging for his cooperation in the background. He could see her mouthing the words 'please, please help me sir, please'. Dom sighed internally, he could tell that this woman wanted nothing more than to please Natasha after the rude way she behaved.

Dom sighed, feeling annoyed that he felt bad for the poor woman that was just trying to make her ways right. He truly felt for her because Natasha was not someone you would want to have as an enemy, believe him, he knew this well.

"Yes." replied Dom as he nodded and Natasha chuckled coldly, she was sure that he only said that because that woman was probably giving him signs behind her back right now.

"You see madam, he says so." said the woman in relief.

"Oh really now?" asked Natasha as Dom nodded avoiding her eyes, he could not handle the intensity of her gaze.

"Why? Tell me why you want me to buy the dress?" she asked.

"Well there are man—" said the woman as she proceeded to speak as Natasha cut her off.

"You be quiet, I didn't ask you, I asked him." said Natasha as Dom looked at her, he knew that the underlying meaning in her words were: 'You better have valid reasons.'

"Go on, tell me exactly why you prefer that I buy this dress instead of the other one." she said as Dom could feel a headache coming on. He could only blame himself for getting into such a situation.

"Well..." said Dom as he took a pause and cleared his throat as Natasha waited patiently for him to give an answer.

"Well I personally like the red dress, even though I haven't seen the yellow one clearly, but I've seen this one and it looks very pretty." he began.

"You wear yellow all the time and you rarely wear red. I know that yellow is your favourite colour, but red will look really good on you." he said.

"If you wear the red dress it will compliment your hair and bring out your eyes, and I like the overall design, it looks like something you would wear and feel comfortable in, but don't mind me, that's just my opinion, you are free to decide on the dress you want." said Dom as Natasha was surprised.

She had not expected him to explain in detail why he preferred the red dress, and she could not believe that she found herself slowly agreeing with his reasons. For some reason right now choosing the red dress was tempting, and he also had a great point, she always wore yellow to important engagements, it wouldn't hurt so bad to change that just this once.

"Alright... I'll take the red dress." said Natasha as the woman smiled in relief, internally thanking Dom for helping her.

"Great! You will not regret this decision madam. I will just return the yellow one." said the woman as she walked to the front desk.

"No, there's no need, I'm taking them both." said Natasha, after all, since she was here, and she had already bought one dress, she could save the other for some other engagement so next time she would not have to go through the hassle of finding a dress.

"Alright madam." said the woman as she nodded and proceeded to pack the dress up.

"You can leave now, I'll see you at home later." said Natasha as she looked at Dom who nodded.

"Alright, see you." he replied in relief as he took his leave quickly. He had luckily escaped that one.

"Here's your dress madam." said the woman as she handed Natasha the shopping bag that had both dresses in it.

"Thank you." said Natasha as she collected the bag from her.

"I hope you enjoyed shopping at La mode boutique, please come back again, and I apologize once more for my behaviour earlier. I really should not have acted that way." said the woman as Natasha was already on her way when she suddenly turned around and sighed as she proceeded back to the front desk.

"A word of advice for you...Lexi." said Natasha as she found out the woman's name on her nametag.

"Be kind to everyone you meet. You never know if they are influential or people of power." said Natasha.

"Yes madam, I know and I'm sincerely sorry for my behaviour." said the woman apologetically.

"Was that before or after you found out that my husband was Dominic White?" asked Natasha as the woman looked down unable to speak.

"I guessed as much." said Natasha.

"Look, you shouldn't be nice to people just because of their status or power, or how rich they are. Everyone deserves to be treated kindly no matter if they are rich or poor, influential or not." said Natasha.

"Yes I know that madam." replied Lexi.

"No, no you don't, because if you did, the way you treated me earlier would have been different. Just because I dress the way I do, or look the way I do does not mean that you should look down on me, or anyone else for that matter." said Natasha seriously.

"And the way you spoke to me, I doubt that you would speak to your friends that way. Just how much are you being paid to work here that you think you are suddenly better than anyone else?" asked Natasha.

"You shouldn't look down on people as if they are less than you. Everyone is equal like it or not, it doesn't matter how much money you have or how pretty you look, we all have one thing in common. We strike with hard work to survive and make a living for ourselves, we all do it." said Natasha.

"You should really reconsider your behaviour because it was completely unacceptable." said Natasha.

"I'm sorry." said Lexi with a whisper.

"Don't just be sorry, own up to your mistakes and mean it, and make a decision to change." said Natasha sternly.

"Yes madam... I know, and I truly am sorry. I will never let this repeat itself again." said Lexi.

"I hope you won't, because in the end it's for your own good not mine. For all you know next time you won't meet someone as calm as I am." said Natasha as Lexi nodded.

"I know madam, and thank you for being kind to me." said Lexi as she knew fully well that Natasha could get her fired if she reported her to her superiors.

"I'm not being kind to you, I'm just telling you the truth." said Natasha as she turned around and walked away as Lexi breathed a sigh of relief.
