章節 13: Hospice

This story is still on HIATUS, as I've been working on my older fics on SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity. But I figured I'd do some updates when I have some free time once a week so you all have something to scratch that Game Creator Fic Itch that has been left unfulfilled. I was sort of hoping NunuXD would keep updating their story so that itch would be scratched, but they went back to full writing on Divine Hack.

With Payne undergoing training I went back to work. I needed a monster of medicine, a leading brand that could take control and lead the world to a greater state of medicine. Something with a public face and brand. I had just the idea, there were a LOT of homeless veterans in Brooklyn. They had no job, and nowhere to go. I had been thinking of ways to improve life for them for a while. Originally I was just going to give them large sums of money, but the problem with that is that they still won't be able to live without a steady income and it would likely start some bad habits instead of working in their own favor. So instead I upgraded my outfit and started to gather some veterans.

Some Of which were of course, being harassed, I naturally dealt with the problem. The thugs called me a mutant as they shot against my personal shield. Something I kept on me at all times. I naturally beat up the thugs and left them for the cops, many of them having outstanding arrest warrants on their names. I called the cops before talking to the homeless veteran.

"I could have handled it."

"I'm sure you could have Mr. Jackson."

"You know me?"

"A little, but I mostly know you're unemployed, I'm here to offer you a legitimate job."

"Legitimate? How would that even work?"

I shrugged, "You will find out soon if you're interested. I'm gathering everyone interested at the stone tables at the park. I need a fair amount of people for the company I'm opening."

"When?"

"The meetings at 6, I hope you will be there."

I started walking off.

"Where are you going? Aren't you going to tell me about this legitimate job you were talking about?"

I looked back for a second before explaining, "I need dozens of people, can't spend too much time on everyone. I got five other people to locate."

"I see. Six o clock huh, I will be there."

"Thanks, it means a lot."

Then I took off to the next one.

I glanced over at the gathering, eighteen people. I was sitting on the table while the rest were sitting on the benches.

"Greetings, I am known as the founder of Guardian's Lure Studios, a gaming company currently taking the gaming world by storm. However, I don't wish to take only the gaming world by storm, I want to take other avenues as well, such as medicine. Which brings us here to today. I am creating a company that will lead medicine across the world in the future. But it requires a public eye that sadly, I am unable to work on personally. Since I have many other projects in the works."

I stretched before I continued speaking, waving my hand as a hologram showed, depicting the Guardian's Lure logo. "I am planning on founding Guardian's Lure Hospice, a medical company that has medicine years ahead of any others in the world. Originally, I was planning on just sharing my medical progress with one of the many other pharmacy companies in the world. But sadly that isn't possible in today's day and age." I waved my hand again and continued as a new hologram showing people being held at gunpoint.

"I won't lie to you, this is a dangerous job. Since I refuse to allow a company of mine to become as corrupt as the current leading companies in this world, we will likely receive death threats, people coming just to personally deal with us and attempt to steal the technology or destroy it because it is a threat to their own companies. As such we go to the reason I am searching for you all. I need people to protect the people I've recruited to lead Guardian's Lure Hospice. Any questions?"

I pointed at the first one that raised their hand.

"How much would we be paid?"

"A salary of 8,000 dollars will be paid monthly."

Eyes brightened at that, cause that was a large amount of money currently, ages above what is considered the normal minimum. There weren't a ton of minimum pay increases in this world so the minimum pay was only six dollars an hour in some states. Which isn't really enough to live on currently. Especially with the inflation caused by all the property damage.

Another raised his hand, "How am I supposed to protect anyone with only one arm!"

I smiled, "Well firstly, we are going to grow you a new one." Everyone's eyes seemed to get slightly wider from that. I waved my hand, showing a hologram of an arm being built from scratch in a flash clone machine. "You will also be provided with power armor." A lithe armor was now displayed. With an example showing how much punishment it could actually take, as well as the movement it could do."

I watched the SHIELD Agents out of the corner of my eye, they were watching with rapt attention. Heh, wasn't expecting Nick Fury himself to come to visit me.

"So any more questions?"

"When do we start?"

I smiled, "Tomorrow." I pulled out a case, inside were phones. "Everyone who is interested come and pick up a phone, it will guide you to the building I bought tomorrow."

In a few moments the phones were gone. I now had guards for my employees, and I had a lot of medical employees. There were a lot of genius medical personnel that were suppressed for self-gain in this world or locked up and exploited. It only took a message or three to convince them to join me, what is funny is that it was happening in all states. I was only starting the first official office building in New York.

Then I spoke, "Well, I've got to go talk with some government agents. I'll get a hold of you all tomorrow." I bid farewell as I headed straight for Nick Fury. I had already fully confirmed his identity. I walked up to him, "Let's go to a more private area, if you want to talk to me, Director Fury."

He smiled, "I have a lot to talk about Guardian'sLureStudios."

A few moments later we entered an empty diner… that only came into existence thirty minutes ago. I wonder how long it will take before they realize that this place was a destroyed house a few minutes earlier. Although, that would be surprising if they could figure it out so quickly. I took a seat.

"I will be honest, I'm a bit surprised that THE Director Fury has come down to speak with me."

"What can I say, you gathered our interest. Although I thought you were just going to stay hidden the entire time. Your development on full dive VR has caused quite the stir. I imagine that this… medical company you are working on will likely do the same."

I grimaced, "I know." I pulled up my sprite, which didn't exist until a few seconds ago into my mouth. He blinks, he has a coke in front of him.

"You're a reality warper."

"Good guess, but no, don't have the technology for that yet. This is simple replication and teleportation." I took a sip, and grimaced. "It needs a bit more work, it loses the carbonation."

They opened up their can and took a sip as well, before spitting it out. "You're right, it tastes like crap."

"It's a problem with experimental tech, it will likely be a while before I get it exactly right."

"How about we cut the theatrics and you tell me your intent."

I stopped for a moment, as I thought about how I could phrase this… "Mr. Fury, I love games. I love playing with other people on games, I enjoy it to the extreme, I especially love it when people play the games I made. It gives me a giddy happy feeling." I said, gesturing as I went. "But here is the issue with that, for gaming to reach its peak, we need peace. We need less crime, less war, and definitely less alien invasions. So I decided to throw my hand into the ring. I wanted to do something… extreme. I want to uplift humanity into a Golden Age. One where you can walk down the street and not get accosted by some run of the mill thug with nothing to do. One where you won't go homeless if you just try. One where deadly diseases aren't much of a threat."

Then I got quiet. "You know what the problem with that is Mr. Fury."

"Tell me." He says, generally curious.

"People." I gestured. A hologram appeared and dozens of images started to flash by, Hydra, Corrupt politicians, gangs, warlords. "Each one determined to prevent my ideas from coming to light. To keep my technology suppressed. But they aren't the only ones that want to stop me." I gestured again. Aliens began appearing, including Thanos. "I've got alien races that want to stop me as well."

"Hell, I got literal gods that would want what I can do suppressed. Once this Hospice is done being built, things will start escalating. I've got the cure to every disease known to man at my fingertips." I stopped with the theatrics. "It seems like we will have to end it here, your SHIELD agents are about to storm this place. By the way, HYDRA has fully infiltrated SHIELD, good luck." I phase out of existence back into my space, my last glimpse being the people storming through the door. I got rid of SHIELD's ability to listen into our conversation the moment we entered the diner.

I smiled, that should start some chaos.
