"Where is Alaric?" Nicasi's irritation carried his voice through the main room of the Core Archives where all of of the rules and tenets of the Order were preserved in written form. 

One of the rules was to not raise your voice in the archives out of respect to the sanctity of the law that was housed there. But Nicasi hadn't been in the mood to preserve Ciprian's sanctity or his rules for a very long time.

And right now, he definitely wasn't in the mood for traipsing all around the Core looking for Alaric.

He'd done a perfunctory search, internally fuming about Lysander the whole time. It took a lot for him to make Nicasi truly angry, but they were quickly approaching that limit.

To add to his irritation, the main road of the Core Compound was empty, so he couldn't even ask someone where Alaric was. Unlike Lysander — who had better not have decided to wallow after he promised not to — Nicasi didn't always use logic to solve his problems.
