Loma stared down at the knight in her hand. "I dreamt that you were all alone."
"Well, that's not a bad dream. It's the truth." The words came out harsher than he meant them to.
She sucked in a quick breath as if in pain. "I know. But this was different. Someone was with you, and then you were alone. Your heart was torn. Between guilt, and…loneliness."
"It was just a dream." Rowan stared at her.
"Are you sure?" Her fingers tightened around her knight again, knuckles turning white. "I could feel it. I saw him. He has black hair, and golden eyes, and he—"
"You're mistaken."
"Where did he come from, Rowan? Who is he?"
"Stop. Don't question me about a dream as if it really happened." Rowan pulled the knight from her grasp, grabbing the part that protruded from her grip without touching her. He placed it in a square at a distance from the other pieces. "And don't say these things around anyone else. Unless you've already told Alaric?"
You all probably realize by now that I am obsessed with dessert. Sorry, but so is Wren. There will be many more cakes in the chapters to come. I'm trying to figure out a way to get Wren to lick icing off of Rowan's body. LOL
