“Are you ready?” I looked up into Ronin’s eyes and nodded.

Truthfully though, I wasn’t sure. Ronin had walked through the things he knew about subconscious travel, or projection as he called it, which wasn’t much to begin with. Mages had stopped the practice of projection a long time ago when it proved to be far more dangerous than convenient.

Ronin had said that mages often became lost in the spaces they traveled between, or came back with half of their minds—those were the least devastating scenarios he had explained. Though Ronin had said it was different for me, in a sense. In a way I was being… invited into the Void and not traveling as an unwanted guest.
