The party occurred the next week, and I was thrilled to be done with school. I helped Mom organize caterers, bartenders, and extra tables from the couch.

Despite being worried, my mother loved throwing parties. She loved being busy. Despite my desire for a smaller baby shower, she had one planned for me. I didn't want it included in team or family activities. Intimate.

As soon as I could, I left to see Gerald, savoring his embrace. Despite not bothering me about moving in, he calmed me in an unstable world. I was frightened that he seemed content when I was there. Brain fog. I criticized the party because I lacked direction.

"Trina, enjoy the delicious food,"  Gerald said.  I tapped his shoulder and kissed him for that. We managed these days, and he seemed happy.
