Mia's POV

When I opened my eyes, I wasn't looking up at the ceiling of my house like I always do. I was in a room that was sterile and white, and there was a pungent odor of chemicals that pierced my nostrils. As soon as I looked around, I realized that I was in a medical facility. Chris took a seat on a chair and tucked his hands into his hair while resting his elbows on his knees.

"Chris?"

When he looked up, there were lines of anxiety visible on his face; nonetheless, he gave the impression of being relieved, and his eyes smiled at me. I was pleased to see him despite the fact that I was aware that our recent interactions had not been pleasant and that we had been stuck together. The fact that he appeared to be happy to see me was another source of relief for me. But despite the fact that I should have known better, I still had that feeling.
