Lia and Dawn sat on the bench outside in the rose garden. The smell of the good food being prepared in the house lingered in the air, causing Lia’s stomach to growl. Jack was running around chasing some butterflies.
“I told you, baby sis, the truth will set you free. Sometimes big sisters know best!” Dawn said.
“Totally! Thank you for everything. Jack is home, and Ryan has never been happier. Today we will need to tell the whole family. How are you coping though without Jack running up and down?” Lia asked.
“It’s weird. I think I have the empty nest syndrome already. My mother-in-law doesn’t make things easy. ‘Dawn, when are you going to give us grandkids? Dawn-Dawn-Dawn?’ If only I could wave a magic wand over my womb and have a child,” Dawn said bitterly.
Lia knew her sister was a strong woman. Although she downplayed her struggle to have children of her own, Lia knew this was one issue Dawn felt powerless over.
