"What's wrong?" Henry Russell asked as he looked at the puzzled Charlotte Cooper.
Charlotte looked him up and down and mumbled, "It shouldn't be like this. How could you not be enchanted by that White Lotus girl?"
Shouldn't a man usually be unable to resist when such a thing happens, and already rush to protect that white lotus girl?
Henry's face darkened, his large palm wrapped around her hand and he looked at her coldly, "You're angry that I didn't help her?"
"Cough, of course not." Charlotte lowered her head under Henry's intimidating gaze.
But as she lowered her head, she realized something was wrong. She hadn't done anything against Henry, so why would she feel guilty?
"I'm just curious about why you didn't believe her," Charlotte said, pursing her lips.
"Some things are only worth believing once." In other words, he wouldn't be fooled twice.
