Asher wasn't expecting the brutal honesty. It was unlike his feral wife to bare her soul before him. He didn't immediately turn her around to face him but instead he stared at her reflection in the mirror with her.

"Aren't we all screwed up in more ways than one?" He whispered to her.

It was true. If any family knew how to be screwed up six ways to heaven, it would be his family.

Pepper turned around to look at him but for some reason she couldn't look him in the eyes and so, she ended up staring at her feet.

"Hey. Look at me" Asher urged her and she tried to look at him only to end up looking away.

"I can't" she murmured and walked to the wardrobe to start changing for work. "I don't know why I said that to you. Forget it"
