The speech and deliberation came to a closing with the diets end and the voting was in favour, the bills were passed as the NEW ENFORCEMENT ACT while the others were still under debate.
The heroism was abolished and the licences were to be duly returned within a week's time. The Hero courses will now be teaching the new recruits of the Special Forces. The veteran heroes were to be given special positions based on their capabilities and vigilantism was to be put to an end.
The day was marked in history, the day where the age of Heroes came to an end. The day when the fate of the world took a turn, the day when the door to new possibilities was opened.
The media was having a field day with the TRP blasting through the roof and the fact that Yuki was a handsome 15-year-old billionaire made it even better.
If he were to be a bit more inclined to having the pleasant company of the fairer gender a bit more, he might get the job description of a certain superhero. "Genius, Playboy, Billionaire and Philanthropist" ring any bells?
After a promise of attending a press conference, Yuki left the diet building and was escorted to his villa in KINGDOM Tokyo, where a certain blond was waiting for him.
In the car:
Mellissa was feeling extremely giddy, seeing Yuki present his deliberation like a seasoned politician made her little head ponder if there was something that the boy beside her could not do. He was a genius in terms of business, management and science and technology. The more she thought the worse she felt, both of them were from different worlds and no matter what she did, she could never bridge the gap.
Her head was hung low and her cerulean eyes got moist, Yuki who was sitting beside her felt something amiss and looked away from the data pad he was looking at and his hunch was right at the mark, he saw a sulking Mellissa beside him, gone was her curious and cheerful persona that had a mature charm to itself, only a brooding Mellissa was left behind.
"You know Mel, if women make weird faces in their youth, they get more prone to get wrinkles before thirties. It will be a pity to see a face like yours getting covered in wrinkles like an old granny when you get to your thirties." Yuki spoke in a soft voice full of mischief.
His bright azure eyes were met with her beautiful cerulean ones, she was almost on the verge of breaking down in tears from her internal monologue, she heard something that obliterated her feeling of melancholy and a tick mark immediately appeared on her head. She turned her head to meet a chuckling Yuki, whose eyes were full of mischief and if one were to look closer, there was care and concern.
But for Mellissa who was feeling a myriad of emotions, it was impossible to see such details in her current state. She looked at Yuki with a wronged expression with a pouting face.
The two bantered for the rest of the journey, where it was mostly Yuki teasing her, but she was smiling with a warm feeling in her heart.
In the Villa:
Mellissa was escorted to her room by the maids while Yuki was led to the room where his captive awaited him. The guards opened the door and let Yuki in. It was a top of the line suite, giving a posh rich guy vibe, his eyes scanned across the room and saw a figure sleeping in the bed.
Yuki walked up to the bed to see the little girl sleep like a kitten, there was a gentle curve on her lips showing the good sleep she was getting. Yuki took a chair and sat beside the bed scrolling the data pad, to overlook the reports of his business ventures.
The maid brought him a cup of coffee, Yuki picked the cup and brought it to his lips but a frown appeared on his face. His mind raced back to the coffee he had in the morning, 'will she come tomorrow?' he chuckled at the thought as he sipped on his cup of coffee.
A few minutes later, the sleeping beauty opened her drowsy eyes, stretching her hands above her head doing a cat like yawn.
She saw Yuki looking at her with an amused expression, the first three things that came to her mind were danger, counterattack and finally embarrassment.
"Has someone ever told you that you look and act like a stray kitten? Regardless, calm down, nobody will harm you here and stop looking at me with that angry kitten expression, I am barely holding my desires to snap pictures." Yuki spoke in a soft voice with smile on his face.
"First, I am not a cat and my name is Himiko Toga, though my last name means little now that I have ran away from home. Why did you bring me here, you don't look the type to be in police… She quickly covered her body with her arms and looked at Yuki with a wary gaze. "Don't tell me you are after my body…"
She stared into Yuki's twitching face with a fierce expression and determination in her amber eyes. Yuki looked at her with a weird expression as his lips were twitching, he sighed and looked into her eyes as he spoke in a soft voice.
"Despite all your cuteness, I have no intention to lay my hands on you and you are ten years too early to be saying something like that, you little kitten." Yuki said giving a light flick on her forehead.
For Himiko, it was her breaking point. She broke into tears, it has been years someone has treated like a person, touched her so tenderly, looked into her eyes with such sincerity. Yuki sighed and kept patting her head while she clutched on to his shirt and sobbed her heart out.
He kept caressing her back and reassured her that it would be alright. He knew how bad the children with quirks like Himiko were treated, but seeing her like this reaffirmed him that he must change this world, the toxic mentality of the society and he must do it fast. Another day he was late, it was another day of suffering for children like her.
People will not change overnight, but the ones living on the streets need to be taken out from their despairing conditions as soon as possible.
After a while of sobbing, she left Yuki's embrace and averted her gaze while her face was blushing from embarrassment. She muttered a weak thank you that brought a smile on Yuki's face. He ruffled her hair once again and spoke, "The dinner will be served in a while, rest well and we will talk tomorrow. Don't worry, nobody will harm you here."
Yuki was about to leave when Himiko caught his shirt, "why are you so kind to me, even when I have a villainous quirk, when I have nothing to give you back, why me?" she asked in a broken voice that was desperately grasping for hope.
"I want to change the ways of the world, the toxic mentality of the society. You are a poor soul who suffered under the wake of this society's cruelty, call it a strong man's pride or a kind man's compassion, I am just doing what must be done. So that when I leave this world, it can be a better place, so that nobody suffers like you have. It's a big dream, and I have employed a scientist to be my partner and now I am adopting a kitten, quite simple right?" Yuki chuckled.
"Himiko barely stopped her smile as she feigned anger and hissed, "for the last time, I am not a cat and you can't just adopt me."
Yuki pulled her cheeks with both his hands and said in a parent-like tone, "you are ten years too early to be a cat, now be a good kitten and take a bath. The dinner will be ready by the next hour and make sure you get yourself patched up from the doctor who will visit you tonight."
Yuki left the room laughing, leaving behind a pouting Himiko who was rubbing her cheeks while muttering, "I am not a kitten, big bad meanie~" while sticking her tongue out cutely.
