"What is the plan then? Should we take it away or destroy it?" Travis asked as he looked over to the stone sphere.
"You can do either, but it will be easier if we destroy it and absorb its pieces afterward," Jason replied." As soon as we break it, it will disperse into light particles and enter the body of the nearest foreigner, leaving no trace of it behind. With that, we would stop the generation of the green light, reducing the dangers we could encounter while going that thing to almost nothing. Also, I don't know how much you can lift, but that's definitely out of my range."
"Well, if you put it that way, then it is almost mandatory that we destroy that thing," Travis replied while laughing.
"Let's deal with that giant tree first, and then we can smash the stone without any trouble," Nathan suggested.
"Be careful; it seems like that thing is not completely defenseless," Azrael said while looking at the tree.
When the others looked at the tree again, they realized it was releasing a large amount of green energy from its leaves. One of those leaves would fall from the tree sometimes, and a patch of vegetation would appear in that spot when they touched the ground.
This began to happen more often, to the point that dozens of leaves fell from the tree each second, which caused the area they had just cleared from vegetation to become covered in a few minutes.
Seeing this, the cultivators didn't doubt about activating the fourth totem again, and when they realized that wasn't enough, they started the last one.
The runes on the surfaces of the two totems shine with an intense green light as they gather every speck of energy from their surroundings.
Sadly, this wasn't enough.
In no time, the army became surrounded by green once again, as new vegetation giants formed around them.
"This is bad," Travis said as he prepared to fight another wave of enemies.
Like it had happened before, the enemies slammed against the army defenses, trying to break through them. The cultivators and their allies managed to take down the giants easily one by one, thanks they weren't holding back.
The problem came when new enemies appeared after they had defeated the first round.
And then more.
And more.
And more.
After the fifth wave of enemies, the totems ran out of space for more energy, which made their fight even more difficult, as now, even if they managed to deal a lot of damage to their enemies, it would be healed in a few minutes.
Not only that, but with more energy available, the number of enemies also increased, making each wave of attacks more challenging to defend than the previous one.
Seeing how they couldn't do anything to eliminate their enemies, they decided to go for the source, and instead of wasting their time with the minions, they would try to destroy the stone to make it easier.
The army advanced slowly toward the crater's center as they defended from the attacks. The nearer they were to the center, the more the light's intensity increased.
Realizing things could become problematic if they didn't do something, the casters began to aim their attacks toward the tree.
Fire bolts and ice projectiles flew toward the tree, but they didn't manage to do much damage, leaving only brushes and burns that didn't take long to heal.
After seeing that, the army couldn't help but despair. The tree was much more resilient than they had thought, resulting in more time to destroy it and more time to defend itself from the enemy's attacks.
When they were twenty meters away from the tree, the roots of the central tree began to move, trying to smash the army with its swings. Thankfully, those movements were slow, and the roots could not move a lot, so the army managed to defend itself from the attacks each time.
Even if they managed to defend themselves to prevent all the damage, dealing with the roots was another thing that summed up the list of things to take care of, making their movement even slower than before.
After a while, they finally arrived at the tree's base.
The tree rested above the stone sphere, which came out of the earth by a meter and a half. Nathan and Travis began to inspect the stone as soon as they got close, but after a few seconds, the roots that stabbed into the rock started to send large amounts of energy toward the tree.
Before the army could do anything to prepare themselves, the tree's leaves flew out of the branches toward the ground, where they made the vegetation grow, while at the same time, new leaves appeared on the tree again.
Here is today's chapter.
I hope you like it and that you have a nice day.
I'll see you around for more.
