The forces move. Serena trains nonstop for the next week and a half, only taking time to eat, sleep, and bathe. Serena also spars with a few of Eris' commanders, allowing her to learn a variety of ways to counter different fighting styles. The young vampire, through Serena's tutelage, learns how to fully utilize the full power of her newly-contracted spirit, Rose. Her new strength, combined with the power she obtains with the spirit fusion, makes her a lot more powerful than before. The growth rate of her power also surprises Eris.
The last day of Serena's training, the army from Reogradia is closing in on Eris' castle. Eris stands on one side of the arena dressed in her battle mode armor while Serena and Rose stand on the opposite side, with their normal weapons and equipment. Both the young vampire and the spirit are breathing heavy breathes as drops of sweat run down their faces. Meanwhile, Eris stands seemingly with no fatigue whatsoever.
"What the hell is with you?! I know that you're an evolved vampire but is your stamina endless or something?!" Rose asks with widened eyes.
Eris snickers and answers, "I was the strongest being there was where I came from. I don't know how I rank in this world, but from what I've seen so far, I should be quite strong."
"I'll say. If all the noble vampires of Rimore teamed up, I highly doubt they'd be able to defeat you," says Serena with an exasperated expression.
"Don't get too down. Your rate of growth is absolutely incredible. Even with the items I gave you and Rose alongside you, your strength rises everyday. Like I said a while ago, keep going and you might even become more powerful than I am one day."
"Says the vampire who keeps beating the ever-living crap out of us every time we train," Rose answers with a blank expression.
"Oh calm down. You've been getting stronger too, and you're an ultimate demonic spirit, so stop complaining."
Serena smiles, "I've gotten used to the feeling of fusing with Rose. At this point, I think that I might be ready for the battle tomorrow."
"I'm glad. Because I've gotten an accurate count of their forces and they've assembled almost eight thousand soldiers for us."
"Eight thousand?! They increased their numbers?! Why?!" Serena asks worryingly.
"It's possible that they just really hate you or they're worried that there's some kind of powerful monster in these ruins. Which there are," says Eris confidently.
"There are?"
"Yep. Us," Eris answers Rose confidently, "You've both grown a lot. Not to mention I have thirty others on my side that are just as strong as I am. Add to that, my army of over ten million shades, and we're quite the formidable group. Even if we can't hold our own tomorrow, don't forget that we have a ton of allies at our back, ready to get us out of danger at a moment's notice."
"I have noticed that your subordinates seem extraordinarily loyal to you. I wouldn't worry master. When those humans get here tomorrow, we'll destroy every single one of them," Rose says confidently.
Serena chuckles then answers, "Thanks, Rose."
Suddenly, Eris hears a sound and turns around to see Chrono standing a ways behind her, "Ah, Chrono. Is everything ready?"
"Indeed, Empress Eris. The wall around the run city has been fully erected, as have the battlements that you asked to be prepared."
"Good job. By the way, Serena. I've been meaning to ask, what exactly was this city?" Eris asks, looking at the younger vampire.
"The Vampire Kingdom of Rimore used to be a lot bigger than it is today. The city that we're in right now used to be the capital of our kingdom called Arsen. According to my parents, the war with the theocracy eight hundred years ago pushed back the kingdom's borders, and Arsen was evacuated because it was too close to the new border line. The new capital is called Escelon, and is located in the center of Rimore."
"Interesting. Well, no matter. Tomorrow is the day. When Reogradia attacks tomorrow, they'll be in for a big surprise," Eris says with a smile that shows off her fangs.
Serena and Rose continue to train with Eris for the rest of the evening and discuss tactics for the upcoming battle well into the night. The next morning, the bright sun shines on the theocracy's army as it approaches the wall surrounding the ruin city of Arsen. Commanding the force from behind is a knight with brown hair, green eyes, and slightly darkened skin with an x-shaped scar on his head. He wears thick plate armor and carries a claymore secured to his waist. His expression was one of determination, but it quickly turns to one of confusion as he and his army approach the wall.
"What the hell happened? There wasn't supposed to be a wall protecting these ruins," the commander says with an annoyed tone.
Another knight approaches him, "Sir, our scouts have confirmed that the wall completely surrounds the city. Based on the looks of it, they say that it was created with an earth magic spell."
"Did the report say anything about the vampire we're after having any skill in earth magic?"
"No sir."
Micheal holds his chin with his head and ponders, "Then what the hell made the wall?"
"What are your orders, sir?"
"Hm… send the aerial units over the wall to scout it out and report back to us. If they confirm that it's safe, then we'll put a hole in the wall with some high-level fire magic."
"Understood sir," the lower knight turns and says, "Huh? What is that?"
Micheal looks in the direction of the wall to find three figures on top of it. All figures seem to be female, and one looks younger than the other two. One of the figures is a young beauty with raven black hair that flows down to her knees, pale skin, and pointed ears. She wears crimson red armor with accents of black that seem to conform to her body's curves. The armor looks sinister with gauntlets that have claws on the end of each finger, and rib-like decorations on her torso as well as an evil-looking, black crown on top of her head.
The smallest of the two individuals has scarlett red hair tied in a ponytail, and like the other, has pale skin, and pointed ears. She wears a black, frilly blouse with short sleeves, and a skirt that almost goes down to her knees. She also has metallic gauntlets with a sharp claw on each finger, just like the black-haired woman, that go up to her elbows, and greaves of the same type that almost go up to her knees.
The final individual has free-flowing, blond hair with pink highlights, slightly tan skin, and has the appearance of a beautiful demon. She has goat-like horns on the sides of her head, long, pointed ears, semi-translucent wings, similar to a bat's, and a long, whip-like tail with an arrowhead-like point at the end. She wears a sleeveless, black blouse with accents of red, and a skirt that goes down to her knees with a similar color pattern. She wears fingerless gloves, black shoes, and thin, black socks that go all the way up her thighs as well. The final feature on her body is that she has strange tattoo-like markings from her shoulder to her elbow. All three of the women are exceptionally beautiful, but what catches Micheal's attention are their red eyes.
"That little girl is the target, but who are the other two?" Micheal asks.
"Perhaps they are the reason Ezikial needed to activate his beacon," answers one of the knights.
"That fool of a priest couldn't handle three girls. He's a true failure. Send in the aerial units to capture these monsters!" the commander orders.
