Katie sank back into the seat of the military vehicle and let out a deep breath. Exhaustion racked her body more than she could admit but alas, her long arduous journey was coming to an end.
Her heart was heavy with more scenes of carnage than she could count and she struggled to keep herself sane. Hopelessness had turned to despair and fear had threatened to swallow her whole… but now it was over.
The world was quiet once more.
The sharp pangs of pain that went through her each time a werewolf life was snuffed out had finally stopped coming, leaving a sore shell in place of the reborn princess.
'Not safe yet… but quiet,' the princess thought as she ignored the bitter taste in her mouth. With the pain of losing werewolves, gone, she felt oddly light and haggard.
