As Evie and the Wolf headed back to the village, Evie talked to the Wolf.
'How come you were in there? I was told that there aren't any wild animals in the forest.'
The Wolf looked at her gazing deep in her eyes and seeming as though he could understand every word she was saying.
Evie continued talking, 'Well no matter. You're with me now and I'm going to take wonderful care of you.'
As they walked, the full moon came out from behind the clouds. The Wolf suddenly tensed. He looked around and then looking at the moon, howled loudly. Then he looked at it longingly seeming as if he could see something even beyond it.
'What a weird wolf', thought Evie.
Evie could now see the bonfire. It was getting dimmer and the villagers were starting to disperse. Evie sat down beside the Wolf and watched the village from far.
She looked for Leo and saw him sitting beside her father. He was saying something to her father who was laughing. He looked handsome with his silver hair glowing against the fire and deep black eyes which glinted in the dark.
Evie sighed watching him and her thoughts went back to the first time they met
..........................
It was a fine sunny day in the middle of spring. The flowers were blooming and the breeze was pleasant.
Evie was in the forest collecting berries from some bushes near the forest lake when she heard a thud followed by a pained grunt coming from near the lake
Evie quickly grabbed her dagger and dropping the basket there, ran towards the lake. She slowed to a stop when she was near enough and peeked from behind a tree.
There beside the lake lay a guy. His leg was twisted all the way around and there was a nasty cut on his forehead where blood was gushing out.
Evie didn't know when a gasp escaped her lips but her dagger fell from her hand and the next second she was beside the man.
He looked like he was 20, the same age as her. As she watched him, he opened his eyes. She gazed deeply into them and saw nothing but pain. He was in a lot of pain.
She instantly jolted back to reality and stood up. 'Hold on' she told him and ran back to the outskirts of the forest. She could see her village here and she yelled for help. A lot of people saw her and instantly came over.
She took them to the mysterious man and they hauled him back to her house. There, with the help of the other women, they cleaned his wounds and bandaged him.
Then they stared at his leg not knowing what to do. That was when the male physician arrived. The man was unconscious. He told the ladies to go outside. Evie being stubborn stayed behind. The physician told his helper to take out some wood planks from the bag.
Then he grabbed the man's leg and jerked it around. Evie would never forget Leo's scream. He had sat up straight and grabbed the physician's hand but he had pressed Leo back down and continued his work.
Evie had stayed by Leo's side all day. He woke up in the evening and asked for water. Evie brought it for him. Then she had sat beside him and asked him his name, about his life and how he had ended up in the forest.
Leo couldn't remember anything just his name. Evie didn't realize when she fell for him but the next day when she introduced him to everyone and the young girls flirted with him, she wanted nothing more than to yank at their hair.
Leo had indirectly returned her feelings and now it was very obvious that they both were meant for each other.
