"Eve," Elric called her name, softly.

Feeling a hand on her shoulder, Evelyn turned around. She held her gaze down, staring at the ground and blinked several times to hide her tears from him. She felt his hand raise and lift her chin. 

"Look at me Eve," Elric whispered. 

She slowly opened her eyes, displaying her watery eyes and quickly closed her eyes. The several questions from her mind disappeared. She didn't know what to ask and how to ask. She found herself lacking in words. 

He called her name again, desiring for her attention, "Eve!" She was vulnerable at that moment and he was aware of it. 

The gentleness in his voice made her heart melt. She looked back at him and with the utmost difficulty, gathered words to ask, "Why?" Her voice quivered. Just the one word, but had many questions. Why did he break the promise? Why did he disappear? Why did he leave her alone all over again? Why? And several other whys…
