"That. Was. Amazing!" I exclaimed the moment that Heron was back in his non animal form. I can't really call it a human form, because I had learned over the years that most of the shifter people didn't like that term. They seemed to think it made them sound weak and pathetic. They didn't know just how strong most humans could be when they needed to be.

"I thank you for your praise." Heron grinned from ear to ear as he resumed his position at the table with me. "I was hoping you would appreciate my performance. There aren't a lot of tortoise shifters left in the world. There are a few that are Sea Turtles, but they also are small in numbers. Our kind doesn't reproduce often, and we usually have to mate with other reptilian species, hoping our genetics win over in the end."
