The scene shown by the cold screen of the laptop felt more burning than a blazing fire to Jeremy's eyes. His heart clenched and his entire body trembled while watching the mansion fading into thin air.
He didn't know why but the pain, that old pain he fought all his entire life to suppress and forget resurfaced again and in such fierceness like it just happened yesterday.
His old wounds reopened and they seemed like they never got healed ever. Even after the passage of all these years, he still felt the same agony and tragedy as if he just lost Rachel yesterday.
And that scene in front of him made him feel he lost her also today.
"What happened?" his tone was shaking, yet it was so domineering. Chris knew he couldn't play around at this moment or even his life would be in danger from Jeremy's wrath.
"I told you, the great demon," Chris stuck to his lie like his life depended on it. "Don't you remember that old tale?"
