"Where is he?", I asked him unable to keep my voice down.
"Gone ", he muttered.
"Gone where?", I asked him again. He stopped talking altogether. I knew I had lost my chance. Damn my running mouth. I couldn't reign my patience long enough for him to utter a few words.
"You know what maybe I had a little too much drink. I'm going to sleep it off", he told me. I didn't answer him and started at the flames before me.
"It was a nice a party, isn't it?", he asked me.
"Yes I answered mechanically.
"I bet you are missing Lucien", he said with an evil smile.
"What's there to miss ?", I tried to appear nonchalant. I didn't want to show my weakness to him right now.
"He is a distraction Mara. You can do bigger things if you see yourself. I bet your father is proud of you ", he said with a twisted smile.
"How do you know my father ?", I asked him.
"I met him once during the war. He is a great warrior just like you", he told me.
