The ascension plains were a magical and weird dimension.

A clear distinction between Light and Darkness was separated at the dividing line where the dimensions of the 5 Regions stood.

The stars in the night sky existed entirely within the Darkness, and the clouds in the Light.

"Welcome, we've been expecting you," a figure sat atop the stary Darkness holding a book that held the greatest Human Path Inheritance.

"So even immortals read Ren Zhu, I'm surprised you of all people would be searching for the hidden Human Path Inheritance," Fang Yuan held his hands behind his back," Primordial Origin Immortal Venerable."

"One can never overlook what their forefathers have left for them, if nothing else it's a good reminder of humanity's origin."

Primordial shut the book, and stored it away, he stroked his flowing wide beard, giving off a sage aura, "You've caused much trouble and mayhem, ruined my hard work, and worst of all," Primordial's tone turned extremely serious, "Bullied my disciple."

The air grew tense, Fang Yuan instinctively took a step back,

"Afraid of any tricks or traps I might have set up, heh, you're smart and cautious I'll give you that," Primordial gave a wry smile and a chuckle, "But luckily or unluckily, he's the one that's going to deal with you."

Primordial took out a folding fan, gesturing it behind Fang Yuan,

Immediately, alarm bells rang inside his head, as he snapped his head to turn-

"Too late slowpoke!" a thunderous voice bellowed out.

*Bang!* Fang Yuan raised his hand to guard, releasing the best Defensive Killer Moves he had prepared in case of a trap.

A cloud of smoke erupted from the clash, and the sound of metal scrapping against metal rang throughout the entire Ascension plains.

Primordial Origin lightly fanned in the direction of the smoke, blowing away the cover it provided, revealing the two figures within,

"Stay out of this Primordial! You promised!" the burly muscular figure snarled at Primordial, his fist digging into a metallic 7-sided shield, a dent formed around where his fist had landed.

This was none other than Reckless Savage Demon Venerable!

Nonchalantly he responded, "I'm not, I'm just making it easier to see for myself."

Reckless turned his attention back toward his prey; Fang Yuan.

"So the mighty Heaven Refining Demon Venerable has become a Dao Emperor! Ha! Do you think you would be able to stand here in front of us without my help? Laughable!" Reckless pulled back his other fist and struck hard against the shield sending Fang Yuan flying as the shield crumbled to dust.

"I was the one who set up everything!" Reckless quickly caught up to the blown away Fang Yuan, joined his fists together and slammed down onto Fang Yuan, only to be made by a rainbow-covered spider web-like barrier.

The slam sent Fang Yuan down into the deep darkness, where even the brightest light failed to illuminate it.

"All my hard work was for this very moment!" Reckless dove down toward Fang Yuan with even greater speed!

"Everything I've done was to get my hands on that! Your Dao of Elements!" Reckless Savage reached out his hands in a claw grip, preparing to grab hold of Fang Yuan.

"Hmph!" Fang Yuan snorted, "I know."

Before Reckless could grab hold of Fang Yuan's neck, he reached out his left hand and gripped Reckless's hand tight.

The sensation of being gripped was something he had long forgotten, in the nearly 1 Million Years since he had become a Dao Emperor, no one, not even Primordial had grabbed his hand, but not for the reason one might think.

"Heh, bad move bub." instead of feeling pain, he gave a smile of relief.

This puzzled Fang Yuan, but only temporarily, searing hot pain soon surged into Fang Yuan's veins, "Argh!"

Fang Yuan immediately tried to release his grip, but it was like glue had joined his hand together to Reckless.

"Hah! You're not getting away that easily! You're my one source of release from this endless pain! Hahahaha finally after so many years! I'm free!" Reckless began laughing like an utter manic, ecstasy was flowing through his veins.

Reckless's expression was one of a madman finally being free after so many years, "You still don't get it do ya?"

"I'm not Reckless Demon Savage, I'm Sha Xiao! Thieving Heaven's Dao Guardian, or as you know, his biological brother from Regina." a cruel smile was plastered over his face, while shock was all over Fang Yuan's.

"I didn't think he had it in him, I felt it all those years ago when he cut off our connection, that ungrateful spineless bastard! Taking the easy way out whilst I was left to suffer all on my own!" Sha Xiao spat those words of hatred.

"He killed himself because of you," Fang Yuan retored through the pain, trying to buy time to figure a way out.

"Hmph, he deserves death for being so weak anyway, with that righteousness bullcrap he was always sprouting, even back at home." Sha Xiao suddenly smirked, "Well I can't be too mad, he brought me you after all."

Fang Yuan's face began to twist,

"Putting the pieces together are ya? Hehe that's right this was all a ploy that we set up, ya see, being outside Time and Space in constant agony does wonders for the mind, you get a realllll good perspective at every Timeline and alternate realities, and in most, if not all, the Great Gu Yue Fang Yuan never discovers the realm of the Dao Emperor."

The pain was still searing into Fang Yuan through his arm as he tried all manners of ways to separate himself from Sha Xiao, who was still monologuing,

"He always finds some other way to achieve his dream of Immortality, but always alone, so what does every Fang Yuan eventually find."

Sha Xiao conjured up a holographic image of a Gu, one that Fang Yuan intimately remembers, one that stirred something deep within his soul; "Spring Autumn Cicada."

"SPRING AUTUMN CICADA Indeed!" Sha Xiao laughed maniacly, "Every Fang Yuan across Time and Space stumbles across this little bugger, Fate's cruellest trap though I must admit it is superb!"

"W-what do you mean trap?" the pain was causing Fang Yuan to stumble.

"Whoa whoa, don't fall apart now! We have eternity to go. Let me take your mind off the pain by sharing the cruel joke that is your life okay?"

If looks could punch Fang Yuan would have hit Sha Xiao 10 times over.

"You see it all began with that prick Primordial over there, you see he was like my brother, caring for his fellow man and whatnot, so he made a deal with Fate Gu, as the person soon to become Rank 10, a Reverend, a literal Immortal, he decided to use that future as a bargaining chip, and to allow Human dormancy and prosperity, he gave up that future."

Fang Yuan turned to look up at Primordial, who was still sitting in his chair, idly listening in, though his face frowned.

"Now, as you know the Heavenly Dao is an asshole, and tried reneging on the deal, after Primordial croaked it, cause you see it, believed that there was no other being capable of becoming a Reverend, and so Variant Humans began having a fighting chance again. But, Primordial was no idiot, even though he gave up Immortality but whatever who's counting, anyway he bet everything, on, get this, 'Huamnity's potential' ahahaha, can you believe it? Risking eternal life on a sack of shit called humainty! Oh, the irony is," Sha Xiao made an obnoxious kissing hand gesture, "Muah!"

"It's so lame and stupid! Just the type of thing my brother would have gone through, me if I gave a damn about people? I would use my infinite powers to level every last Variant Human to atoms! And whatever remains I'll make serve humanity till my dying breath, which is never cause I'd be Immortal!" fire erupted from Sha Xiao's hair as he emphasised the point, immortal.

"But no, he didn't want humans to become tyrants like the variant humans were, so he settled for racism I guess." Sha Xiao shrugged, "Who am I to judge I don't care."

By this point was exhausted, he couldn't decide which was worse. The pain or the obnoxious idiot next to him blabbering on and on,

"Oh, I'm losing you okay let me get to the good part then, so the reason you're in this pickle is because of genius over there, Tldr, his bet on humanity paid off, cause one day a sadistic bastard like you would be born, and in every timeline after your birth, Fate gets destroyed, and because it dies, Dao Emperors get born. So Primordial strikes a new deal with Fate from within the Doors of Life and Death, he would ensure that you never become a Dao Emperor, and only a Venerable, so that you never open the way for others to come, and because you are obsessed with eternity, every single time you reach the end of your ropes you suicide and bring yourself back to the past, bringing Fate Gu back and creating the whole cycle over again. Of course, in exchange for his becoming a Dao Emperor of his own."

"So whether you succeed or not, it didn't matter, every Fang Yuan loops back to the beginning and tries again all for different reasons too, haven't you wondered why Star Constellation and Genesis Lotus would work together with the traitor Red Lotus? Or why all of a sudden you witness the descent of Heaven and Earth? In most other timelines they never wake up. They never get involved with you. Many timelines just end abruptly in the middle of your 3-way battle between Star Constellation, Giant Sun and yourself. Usually right at the destruction of Heavenly Court after the exploding of its Qi Fruit, sound familiar?"

Fang Yuan's eyes began to frown as he stared at Sha Xiao, "My timeline is one of those isn't it." He was fighting hard against the pain, Perseverance Gu was working overdrive to help him.

"Bingo!" Sha Xiao grew a third arm just so he could clap, "I knew you were the right choice, I could never interfere with a Timeline that was pre-determined so I had to pick one that wasn't, though not quite, yours is an Incomplete Timeline, one that is in the middle of it's restart not the end. Oh right, you don't know how your previous Timeline ended."

"I know that much," Fang Yuan said amidst bated breaths, "I didn't even make it to Rank 7, I was surrounded by the righteous faction and-"

"Ahaha," Sha Xiao wiped the tears from his eyes with his third arm, "You still think that's how it all began? No no no my friend, your story started even before that, you see what had happened was-ah!"

All of a sudden, Sha Xiao's hand was separated by a clean cut, releasing Fang Yuan and bringing the full torment back onto Sha Xiao!

"ARGH!!! PRIMORDIAL I'll KILL YOU!" Sha Xiao screamed in agony!

Having the only source of relief he had taken away from him was one thing, but the pain came soaring back in, causing him to double over in pain.

"Hurry, there isn't much time so I'll explain everything," Primordial appeared next to the exhausted Fang Yuan and whisked him away, leaving only an angry Sha Xiao thrashing in pain.

"I'm going need you to kill yourself."
