He was leveling his crafting at a rapid rate, but his stats and race levels were still the same and probably wouldn't advance for a bit. The only way he could think of was to make a strong item and use it to cultivate up to foundation building realm three. He woke up the next day and used his phone to look for materials that would go well in his new growth item. His only real choices were slime cores and abyssal shards. Everything else was too expensive, too hard to work with, or only available on the black market.
He wasn't high enough level to go into a dungeon and get them so his only choice was to buy, or go to the school's mini dungeons. The mini dungeons were to train new students in real combat and get them exp until they were ready for real dungeons. The way they worked is they would intentionally let dungeons break so that enemies could come out, then separating the monsters from each other and letting first years take them one on one. If he battled enough slimes he could get the slime cores he needed. He estimated that he would need more than one hundred slime cores, the two gems he had and five flame iron. He needed to make sure it was perfect if he wanted it to be the item he always kept as his inner accessory.
He went to the mini dungeons an hour before everyone else woke up for the day. It was $1000 for a single dungen unlimited pass, or $10 per single enemy. It was around $15 for a slime core so he needed to get 100 slime cores to make it worth it for the unlimited pass. It may have cost most of his money, but he could pay for food or other things with the five hundred dollars he had left. He didn't just want the materials, but wanted the experience and to battle. He hadn't fought anything in more than 50 hours and was starting to really itch. He stepped into one of the slime fighting booths, and began to fight.
His claws came out as the slime lunged at him. Slimes were extremely hard to kill with a physical weapon without damaging its core, as one needed to take the core out whole to keep it intact or destroy all the slime in its body. At this level they were only slightly corrosive so with some good vitality warriors could just pull it straight out and mages could obliterate their bodys, but he couldn't do either. His only choice was to use his claws to slowly cut away at them till they were just a core, or slash away and grab the core before it could redistribute itself.
The slime was a lot faster than he expected, nearly jumping on his head right off the bat. He narrowly dodged it before spinning around and lining up to hit the slime on its next pass. The slime didn't have eyes or ears and could only sense him through touch, as such the slime's accrusy was terrible and let Jake land a clean hit. The slime had a very simple pattern, jump, land, aim, jump. It repeated this process five or six times, letting Jake land quite a few slashes into it. But just as he got comfortable, the slime aimed for the sky, expanding itself into a thin slab before forcing down. At this point it was too thin and let him catch it without damage as it fell to the ground. It was going to regroup, but without the core the slime was dead.
[1 EXP gained]
He placed the core in his inventory and pressed the button to let another one in. He tried to do the one cut and grab strategy, but went too far and hit the core, shattering it.
[1 EXP gained]
He got a slime core shard, but he didn't have a use for it at the moment. The next one he made sure not to go too far, but he was too shallow a few times before he got it.
[1 EXP gained]
The next one came in, he slashed at it and was able to successfully grab it in just a few tries

He was quickly out of time. It was five minutes before the next day started when he left, but in the time he was there he had gotten 20 experience, 5 shards, and 15 full slime cores. It was a pretty good hull as each one took around two minutes to kill outside of the first four. He remembered he had not had breakfast, but he had eaten dinner in the cultivation world so he would be okay for the rest of the day as long as he didn't get into any fights or draining activities.
