Hearing the doctor's words, Aunt Li's expression changed drastically, as if lightning had struck above her head.
"My grandchildren might not be able to be saved, right?"
"Did you know she is carrying twins?"
Since the pregnant woman's condition wasn't good, the doctor had some questions that he didn't want the pregnant woman to strain herself to answer, so he asked her family instead.
Little did he expect Aunt Li to act as if she too had been struck by lightning: "Twins!"
"Haven't you done prenatal check-ups before?"
"We did, at the local hospital when she first became pregnant."
Apparently, the small hospital hadn't done a careful ultrasound, or the doctor lacked experience, missing the twins' diagnosis.
"Did you not get a prenatal care card?" Doctor Xin, standing beside them, asked the patient's family. "Which hospital did you go to for that?"
