章節 30: Chapter 30 Lisa’s Secret
Seeing him arriving here, Chloe stood up to greet him, "Paul, long time no see. How are you doing recently?"
Paul Wilson nodded to her and then they two sat down, "Chloe, I didn't expect you to reach out to me."
Chloe held the coffee cup and cut to the chase, "Frankly, I have some questions for you today."
Paul didn't mind, "Go ahead."
"Lisa was beaten by Marlene back in high school. Do you still remember anything relevant?"
Back then, Paul was the president of the student council and thus Chloe thought he should know more.
He did. Six years later, his memory was still vivid. "I remember Ernest and I had dealt with them. They are not good people and I can assure that."
Hearing this, Chloe had a bad feeling, her palm sweaty. "What do you mean?"
Paul frowned, unwilling to recall the tragedy, "Back then we knew something happened to Lisa, and we rushed over to help her. But as we got there, Lisa had been beaten all over, and her clothes were also torn apart, barely covering herself. She was holding a knife in her hand like crazy, and wouldn't allow anyone to approach. I don't know what happened exactly. But it's obvious that those people attempted to rape her."
He then sighed deeply. Lisa was just a teenager at that time, but she suffered too much.
Chloe closed her eyes and took a deep breath, her eyes red.
Seeing this, Paul didn't know how to comfort her. He hesitated for a moment, but still continued, "I seemed to remember that Marlene's boyfriend was threatening Lisa, claiming he had her photos, and he would expose them unless she gave him a million. In the end, her father found it and almost gave everything to make him shut up.
"Lisa wanted to keep it a secret, especially from you. That's why we never told you anything. She knew you would blame yourself, so... "
Chloe nodded silently.
She noticed something weird at that time but didn't pay extra attention. Lisa just told her something happened to her family and therefore, they moved to somewhere else.
And she didn't doubt her.
But it turned out that the bloody truth hurt so much.
Now Chloe felt overwhelmed by depression and guilty.
Chloe put herself together a moment later, "Thank you, for telling me the truth."
Since she already knew the secret, she must do something. And she's determined to do whatever it took to make them pay.
"Do you remember their names?" Chloe asked coldly.
Paul scratched his head, trying to remember, "I think one guy was called Peter? He came with Marlene's boyfriend."
"I see." Now Chloe had a clue.
Meanwhile, Nancy, who was sitting not far away, glanced at the phone screen and coldness crossed her eyes.

In the Bruce Group.
"You're really a busy man, aren't you? You asked me to take over the mess of Mr. Lee for you. I actually thought we were friends!" Ryan pushed the door of Daniel's office open unhappily, making a loud sound.
Inside, Tyler was delivering a report to Daniel on today's work, and they both were startled by the sudden door slamming.
Daniel looked up at him, his tone brisk and causal, "You have a problem?"
"Come on. I'm in charge of the entertainment department. Now you want me to do some property meeting? My brain almost exploded."
Then he threw a heavy notebook on Daniel's desk where he made notes earlier.
Daniel picked it up and took a look. He put it back without any expression, "Not bad."
"Not bad? I worked so hard in that meeting!" Ryan stared at Daniel and yelled.
Seeing this, Tyler knew he should give them privacy. So he asked with due respect, "Mr. Bruce, I shall leave now?"
Once Daniel nodded, Tyler left at once.
While Ryan looked puzzled, "So are you going to tell me something?"
He pulled a chair and sat down opposite Daniel, crossing his legs and relaxing in a casual manner.
Chloe handed Ryan the document Tyler had just given him, "I plan to expand the entertainment department. You can select more fresh artists now."
Ryan casually flipped it through and put it back with little interest, "Our entertainment department has been going on well recently. Francine just won the best actress this year. So why did you suddenly want to expand?"
"Money." Daniel gave a very simple answer.
Ryan tilted his head and thought for a while. Then he picked up the document again, "I'll check the document thoroughly. If we do need more artists, I will start recruitment."
"Good," Daniel focused on his computer again.
At this moment, Daniel suddenly received a message. He took a look and immediately got up.

Chloe was wandering and somehow walked to Lisa's place. She remembered that Lisa rented her apartment here.
The first time Chloe went here, she asked Lisa why she chose to live here.
While Lisa pinched Chloe on her cheek and smiled, "To be near you."
Thinking of this, Chloe felt her eyes were getting wet. Lisa had been so nice to her but suffered this on her own.
She was not doing a good job of being Lisa's best friend.
The next moment, Chloe called Lisa.
However, she couldn't get through. So she tried several times again but still failed.
What happened? Was Lisa sill angry about her?
Chloe sat down on the curb, waiting for Lisa to come back.
But Lisa didn't show up several hours later. And it was getting dark.
Suddenly, Chloe's phone rang. It was Lisa.
Chloe immediately picked it up, "Lisa, where are you? I'm waiting for you."
"Hello, are you the family member or friend of the phone user? She left her phone at the funeral parlor."
"Funeral parlor? What happened?" Chloe was confused for a moment. Then she asked for the address.
After hanging up the phone, Chloe calmed down and decided to see what was going on herself.
At this moment, a car stopped right before Chloe.
