“Are you ready to move on?”

Cynthia appeared to hesitate for a second or two. “I…I believe I am. I’m tired of losing so many of my loved ones over the years.”

“Okay.”

Then Calian walked a circle around Cynthia, dropping exactly seven drops of the potion while he did that. The light breeze that had been blowing abruptly stopped. Then the crows appeared out of nowhere and began to call out one at a time until they were cawing in unison. Calian watched as the magic from the potion rose higher and surrounded Cynthia. He knew Cynthia wouldn’t be able to see the tendrils of magic, but she’d feel its effects soon. Mere seconds later, Cynthia choked a little, and she fell to her knees while clutching at her throat, chest, and stomach.

“Wha…what’s happening to—”
