Dallas was too practical not to think of the future in terms of what they wanted and needed,and it seemed to him that Noah wanted and needed the military.

There was also the fact that they were both shifters.Cats,even though different kinds,which was still good,as acceptable as them both being men;but somewhere deep within,Dallas had always thought he’d end up with a human.Someone he could trust,who would like the quiet,safe lifestyle he preferred,and would only be told about the existence of shifters if he absolutely had to.

Besides,falling in love with a shifter who could never be open about his relationship with Dallas was not an option.So he spent Joe’s last days taking care of him with Noah.He waited until the old man passed away,and when his cancer-ridden body finally gave up,Dallas vanished the morning of the funeral.

He'd packed his bag and left when Noah’s back was turned.
