“Okay,” she says. “So it’s weird. But is it wrong?”

Ryan shrugs and says, “I don’t think so, really. Just kind of weird. The sex and stuff, that’s just…eurgh.”

“Do you want to shag him?”

The idea isn’t disgusting, because the idea doesn’t exist. Ryan honestly can’t picture it. He can’t picture himself having it off with another guy, and he can’t picture Alex undone enough and out of control enough to have sex at all

“No,” he says.

The blankness fades, and Mara smirks. She’s seen through him. “Not what your face just said.”

“What?”

“Your face said you couldn’t imagine it,” she said flatly, shrugging one shoulder. “Which isn’t the same as being turned off or on by the idea. Ever slept with a girl?”

“No.”

“Thought not,” she agrees, and bites her lip. “I don’t know, Ryan. I think you’re getting ahead of yourself.”
