章節 151: Short confrontation

"Why didn't you tell me earlier that you're an outstanding singer?" Uma looked deeply into Hugo's amber eyes, twinkling with a hint of mischief, and spoke emotionally. While Uma's gaze stayed on Hugo's eyes, her hands slowly slid down his body, feeling his delicate yet firm skin. Uma's palms left a trail of warmth on the surface of Hugo's skin, igniting flames one after another.

Hugo looked at Uma, who was leaning over him, and a smile unconsciously appeared on his lips. "I told you last night, didn't I? Did you forget? We haven't had a formal date yet, not even a proper conversation. You didn't give me a chance."

Uma's hands made Hugo's skin feel ticklish, and his body quickly responded. The smile in his eyes followed Uma's enchanting gaze, capturing the infinite spring-like radiance. The pleasure in his heart made Hugo feel light and joyful. His hands traced along the smooth curve of Uma's back, gradually exploring downward, causing Uma's breath to become rapid.

Uma gently bit her lower lip, struggling to control her own breath. "No, you had a chance. Did you forget? The set visit for "A Few Good Men", the guitar, the singing..." The reason why Hugo produced the end credits song for "A Few Good Men" was actually due to that spontaneous performance during the set visit. He naturally wouldn't forget.

"So, you mean you already knew all along, right? Then why did you still ask me?" Hugo slightly raised his upper body, using the strength of his abdomen to inch closer to Uma's face. However, Uma mischievously lifted her body, not allowing Hugo to get closer. This forced Hugo to use his hands to hold onto Uma's slender waist, preventing her from escaping, and then he kissed Uma's lips in an instant.

Uma immediately took charge and bit Hugo's lips, while her hands continued their exploration, quickly encountering an intense heat, causing Hugo to let out a gentle moan. Uma's lips curved into a satisfied smile, and then she left Hugo's tempting lips, trailing along his chin, Adam's apple, collarbone, chest, and abdominal muscles, using her own lips to embark on an exploration, step by step, leading Hugo to ascend the peaks of spiritual pleasure.

Outside the window, the sun was already shining brightly. Charlize and Alex sat in the restaurant, listening to the faint sounds coming from a room at the other end of the hall, exchanging a helpless glance.

Yesterday's premiere of "A Few Good Men" was highly successful, with one enthusiastic question after another from the audience, prolonging the premiere until midnight. By the time Hugo arrived home, it was almost one in the morning. Originally, Charlize and Alex were concerned that Hugo would be restless and sleepless like after the premiere of "Scent of a Woman". However, they didn't expect Hugo to find another method, and evidently, it was quite effective. Today, when they woke up, instead of seeing a lifeless and anxious Hugo, they heard sounds more delightful than sunshine and crashing waves.

The sound of the bathroom door creaking open reached their ears. Uma, wearing the outfit from last night's premiere, her golden hair let loose, walked into the bathroom with a cheerful stride, not forgetting to greet Charlize and Alex. But just before Uma entered the bathroom, Charlize suddenly remembered something and called out, "Uma..." However, after uttering the words, she felt it was somewhat impolite. Looking at Uma's turned face, Charlize considered her tone and said, "Hugo's towel is the white one. Could you please use that one?"

Uma tightly gripped the handle of the bathroom door and squinted her eyes as she scrutinized Charlize for a moment. It seemed as if Charlize's earlier words had struck a wrong chord with her, and she tried to glean something from her expression. This made Charlize feel somewhat uncomfortable. Then, Uma said, "Okay, no problem." and walked into the bathroom.

Alex nudged Charlize with his elbow and curiously asked, "Don't you like her?"

"No!" Charlize's response was firm and even slightly raised in tone, as if he was eager to deny it. This startled Alex. Charlize immediately realized that her reaction was a bit too intense and quickly forced a smile. "No, it's just that I don't want her using my towel or yours. You know, I'm sensitive about that kind of thing."

Alex didn't suspect anything and nodded with sudden understanding. He knew about the incident when Uma stayed over and used Charlize's towel, which Charlize then threw away. "We should remind Hugo if he brings someone to stay over in the future."

Seeing that Alex didn't press further, Charlize breathed a sigh of relief, nodded absentmindedly, and casually replied, "Yeah."

Charlize glanced at Hugo's slightly ajar room door, listening to the sound of water splashing in the bathroom. There was a momentary hesitation in her expression, but she quickly averted her gaze. She took a deep breath, and the hesitancy between her brows disappeared along with the sunlight shining through the window. A smile gently appeared on her lips, filled with a sense of ease.

Uma quickly finished tidying herself up, spent some more time in Hugo's room, and then prepared to leave. Standing in the hallway, Uma bid farewell to Charlize and Alex. Uma hesitated for a moment and looked at Charlize, "You don't like me, do you?"

Uma's sudden question caught Charlie and Alex off guard. Obviously, they hadn't expected Uma to engage in further conversation with them, let alone starting with such a direct and sharp question. However, Charlize remained calm and even smiled, counterasking, "Is that so?"

Uma paused for about a second, looking at the casual smile on Charlize's lips and her open, clear gaze. She said, "You should like me."

This time, Charlize raised an eyebrow in surprise and curiosity, her astonishment and curiosity revealed without any concealment. He asked again, "Should I?"

Uma paused for a moment, thinking that Charlize might also have feelings for Hugo. Even if not, at least there might be some ambiguity between them. But now it seemed that she had read too much into it. Perhaps her sixth sense as a woman was too sensitive. This might indicate that her fondness for Hugo was gradually deepening. With that realization, Uma also smiled and shook her head. "No, I was just overthinking. I apologize if my way of questioning was a bit rude." After apologizing, Uma waved goodbye once more and walked away.

Hearing the commotion in the hallway, Hugo finally emerged from his room and leaned against the door, asking, "What's going on? What happened?"

Alex didn't know how to explain. It seemed that the two women had engaged in a brief, silent war right under his nose, but he didn't know the reason or how to describe it precisely. So, Alex simply lowered his head and obediently enjoyed his breakfast. The taste of bacon today was quite good.

Charlize didn't avoid eye contact and remained relaxed and casual. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "No, it was just a simple conversation. Uma asked me how I slept last night, and I said I didn't sleep well. That's it."

"Why? Were you worried about my movie last night?" Hugo said with a smile. He was in a good mood today, not only because the movie premiere was successful, but also because things were going smoothly between him and Uma. Although Hugo still couldn't distinguish whether his affection for Uma came from his previous self or his current self, he confirmed one thing: the signals in his head were coming from the same person. So he didn't hesitate anymore, nor did he need to hesitate. He let his heart's hormones release energy naturally. Last night was a wonderful night.

"No," Charlize calmly said as she tore off a piece of French baguette. "It's because the noise in your room was too loud."

Alex burst into laughter, spitting out the bacon in his mouth. He looked at the mess on his plate but couldn't stop laughing. Hugo's previously excited expression froze on his face. He awkwardly scratched his head, looked around, and then shyly and awkwardly walked into the bathroom.

Seeing Hugo's figure, Alex burst into laughter. "Man, you..." Alex gave Charlize a thumbs up, showing his admiration.

Charlize didn't think much of it and just smiled. "Don't you agree?"

"Yes, yes, of course," Alex said ecstatically. "I not only agree, but I also envy it." This simple sentence made Charlize pause and then blush, leaving Alex confused.

Hugo originally planned to spend more time in the bathroom, but the appearance of Joseph and Karl triggered an alarm, allowing Hugo to come out early. Although the success of the premiere last night had boosted Hugo's confidence, and the wonderful night had kept his nervousness at bay, the anticipation of the first batch of reviews still crept in. Even if he was late, Hugo still felt his muscles tensing up.

Hugo nervously looked at Joseph and Karl, both with serious expressions. It reminded him of the situation with the first reviews of "Scent of a Woman". Could this be another bad start? But could the subsequent reviews be turned around like "Scent of a Woman"? No one likes a bad start, even if they know it can be reversed later.

Joseph looked at Hugo's anxious face and Charlize and Alex, who were also anxious, so he tried to suppress the fluctuations in his voice. He calmly said, "Nicholas from the Los Angeles Times wrote the first review." It wasn't a good start. "He gave "A Few Good Men" a score of ninety."

"Oh, my God..." Alex's exclamation halted abruptly as he realized it might not be bad news. He then heard Hugo's trembling voice filled with excitement, "You mean, a score of ninety out of a hundred?"

"Yes!" A faint smile appeared on Joseph's face, like swaying hyacinths in the wind.
