章節 14: Switching with BB
So, this was how it happened.
The boss opened the box of wrapped papers and gave each of us a look, his eyes lingering on me for a bit before he poured the wrapped papers onto the floor.
"I'll be the one to give the wrapped papers to you." He said, to the shock of not just me, but the others sitting with us.
"I thought we're the ones who are supposed to pick the papers, why do you want to do that for us?" I frown at him.
Others might keep quiet as they mop at him like fools, but I'm not going to keep calm. I must get to the route of the matter, and make sure he doesn't get to control us like he so wished for.
"It's my idea, and it's going to be my rules? You don't like it?" He places a hand on his jaw, and gave me a look, "you must have intended to rig this." Smirking, he placed one of the wrapped papers on the table in front of me.
Smirking, he took one himself and asked the others to pick by themselves.
And that was how I got paired with him.

"Am sure he knowingly did that." I tug my hair in frustration.
There's nothing to doubt about my words. The devil's incarnate being the one who wrapped the papers likely knew the numbers.
"I doubt that's the truth. It might be incidental stuff." Dozzy nods at his words, "you can see how shocked the boss was when he saw you picked the same number as he did. "
" Anyone can act shocked. Acting shocked doesn't mean he's shocked. He might be acting shocked for all we know." Rolling my eyes at him, I sit on his visitor's chair.
"That's not true."
"All because you weren't as unlucky as I am to be in the boss's group."
"Am just too lucky."

"Can we swap groups?" I ask BB when I went down after my work hours.
" And why should I do that?" She gave me a look. Racking her eyes at me, she acted as if she was just seeing me for the first time.
"I'll do whatever it is you want from me." I plead, "just take the wrapped paper from me, and give me yours. You can take care of the boss, but I am not as patient as you to endure things."
" Anything I want?" She wiggled her brows. "You'll give me everything I want?"
"Of course, I will. Just mention your price, and I'll give you whatever you want, provided it's to my abilities." I tried to bait her to take the wrapped paper and get paired with the boss.
Since everyone believes the boss didn't rig the paper picking, there's no way for him to reject BB. After all, he doesn't know who it is that will pick the papers.
" Okay…" She smiled coyly.
"Thank you!" I jump in happiness. "You can tell me whatever you want to tell me, I'll make sure I fulfil them."
"Don't worry about that, I'm yet to think about what to wish for. When I think of it, I'll tell you my reply." Smiling at me, she gave me she picked papers and took mine in exchange.
" Thank you very much!" I almost yelped out, the entire building.
" You're welcome." She chuckles," in some ways, I should thank you also."
Her words caused me to stop my jubilation to give her a look as I tried to think about why she wanted to thank me for pairing her off with the devil's incarnate.
" And why's that?" I ask.
She looked around to make sure there was no one in the office * something I think is funny based on the fact the others have already left since the stroke of the clock* before she motioned me closer to her.
"What's it?"
"The walls have ears. Come closer, and I'll whisper the words to you."
Without much Ado, I walk closer to her and leaned closer for the juicy news.
"I've been eager to get some juicy gossip about the boss. What you did allows me to get to know him and get some juicy secrets from him."
Figures.
All this woman knows is to gossip every chance she gets. Gossiping is what she does for a living. Something she'll gladly do if it pays.
" Then it's finalized, right?" I bring my hand out for a shake.
"Of course it is. It has been finalized, let's shake our hands on it." She shook mine, and we both smiled brightly.

"You did what?" Dozzy shrieked.
I had to remove the phone from my ears for fear of getting my eardrums burst by the shout.
"I changed groups with BB. We both are in the same group." I smiled goofily.
"I know, and am glad about it, but what of the boss? What will he do if he's to find out about it?" He asked in a worried tone.
"Like you said, picking the same number with the boss is coincidental. I don't see why he'll mind being in the same group with BB. He won't mind his group at all."
This is one way to find out if it was accidental or something he knowingly did.
" You think so?"
"If he makes it sound like a big deal, I'll know getting the same group as he did isn't accidental at all. I'll know he knowingly did it."
"That's a great way to solve things." Dozzy agreed with me.
" I guess. BB also promised to help me find some juicy secrets I might make use of against the boss should he try to bend me to his will all the time."
It'll be so damn refreshing to get something to utilize against the boss. Who knows, I might in some ways get a secret to blackmail him with to get him to change my computer system to a new one.
" Okay. I wish you luck in that."
"Thank you."
I hope for things to work out for my good.
