Although her grandfather had advised Haylee to stay away from the west of the city, that day she had decided to cross the wall.

For years she had held back, she had refrained from going to look for him. But that day, just once, she wanted to see him. She would look at him, just for a moment, and then she would go back East, back to her mission. Her priority was to stop the Keepers and he was just a distraction to her at that moment. She was aware of it, and it was also the reason why she so longed to get away from there.

She missed Byron so much.

When they had taken him away, they had just realized that they had feelings for each other, or rather, they had finally admitted them. For years they had denied what they felt. Especially Haylee, who didn't want to hurt her mother after Kurt's disappearance.

And when they both had finally found the courage, the Keepers had stepped in to ruin their lives by bringing them there.
